Scotty McCreery Teases New Music Video for ‘Bottle Rockets’

“American Idol” season 10 winner Scotty McCreery has had the hit country song of the summer with the single “Bottle Rockets.” The song, a collab with iconic ’90s band Hootie & the Blowfish, shot to the number one spot on the MusicRow CountryBreakout Radio Chart, and it seems a music video is on the way.

McCreery took to Instagram this week to give fans a little taste of what’s coming. The country crooner is shown being filmed on a beach while singing along to “Bottle Rockets” in one reel, which includes the text, “May or may not be filming something for ‘Bottle Rockets.'”

On September 9, McCreery posted yet another clip on the same beach wearing the same outfit, sitting a and strumming a guitar. “Bet you can’t guess who’s sitting next to me for this video shoot,” he wrote over the video, and captioned it “Can you guess who it is?”

Scotty McCreery’s Fans Got Excited in the Comments

Fans were happy to share their guesses as to the mystery person McCreery is playing guitar alongside. One of the comments suggested that the musician just out of frame was country singer Billy Currington, while another guessed that it was Kenny Chesney.

But because “Bottle Rockets” features Hootie & the Blowfish, many other fans guessed that it was a member of the band or frontman Darius Rucker.

Mostly, however, fans commented on how much they love the song and can’t wait for the video to be released. “Love it Scotty!!! I told you this was summer Anthem ❤️🙌❤️🙌❤️,” one comment read, while another fan posted, “So deserves to be #1, best song of the summer👍.” Another emoji-filled comment simply said, “😮😂😍👏🙌all time favorite 🤩.”

‘Bottle Rockets’ Means a Lot to McCreery

Fans are not the only ones who are loving “Bottle Rockets.” For McCreery, performing the song with Hootie & the Blowfish was a dream come true. The singer recently shared another post on Instagram in which he is shown listening to the tune in front of a poster of the band.

“When you still can’t believe you have a hit song with one of your fave bands” McCreery wrote in text over the video clip.

In May, McCreery told Country Now, “The song turned out better than my wildest dreams.” The chorus of the track incorporates the chorus of the 1994 Hootie hit “Hold My Hand,” making it a super fun mashup.

As for the inspiration for the song, McCreery recalled some of the best summers from his childhood. “I was talking about like my last summer with no job … hitting the beach, no responsibilities. It was like, man, I just remember that,” he shared.
