Married music legends Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo returned to “American Idol” to mentor the remaining 11 contestants days before the April 13 live show. Inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, the couple is a force in music, still touring four decades after first topping the charts.

By the end of the live episode, host Ryan Seacrest will reveal who’s moving on to the Top 9. We’re covering every performance and the results LIVE — so keep checking back throughout the night for every little detail and to learn who’s staying and who’s going home.

During the April 6 show, the Top 12 performed 90s hits chosen by judges Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and Lionel Richie. After the bottom two were revealed — Jesse Findling and Rae — only one could remain. Richie, who won the Judges’ Song Contest that night, earned the responsibility of making that decision and he chose to keep Rae in the competition.

Who Made the Top 9 of ‘American Idol’ 2026?

Viewers had less than two hours to vote for which of the Top 11 contestants they wanted to move on, as they watched each one perform an iconic tune originally made popular by a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee (here’s what they each sang).

After the final commercial break, Seacrest appeared to deliver the news: who’s moving on and who’d been eliminated.

In no particular order, Seacrest said the first person through to the Top 9 was Brooks Rosser. Next, he named Daniel Stallworth to the Top 9. Braden Rumfelt advanced, as did Lucas Leon. Next up, Jordan McCullough made it through. Then Hannah Harper’s name was called. After that, Keyla Richardson advanced, and then Chris Tungseth. There were then three left with only one able to go through — and that spot went to Kyndal Inskeep. That means the two singers eliminated were Rae and Philmon Lee.

The Top 9 will perform next Monday, April 20, on Disney Night with “Idol” alum Jennifer Hudson serving as a mentor and judge.
