Libra Thompson, who starred in “Big Brother” 10, revealed in an emotional post that she suffered a stroke.
The reality tv star took to Instagram on Monday, Feb. 9, detailing what happened while also thanking everyone for their love and support.
“Hi Friends! After being finally able to sort through it all…I would like to thank each and everyone for reaching out and sending me well wishes!” Thompson captioned the post. “I unfortunately experienced a stroke event on February 1st while I was in San Antonio attending a conference luckily my roommate, co-worker, and friend was there!!”
Libra Thompson Says She Had A Cryptogenic Stroke
In her post, she thanked the doctors and staff who took care of her, saying that they were “able to pinpoint a cause for my stroke.” It was a cryptogenic stroke, which was “found to be due to me having a PFO—patent foramen ovale, which is a small hole in my heart.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, a patent foramen ovale is a “hole in the heart that didn’t close the way it should after birth.”
Thompson also took a moment to ask her followers for help, specifically in the form of donations, as she will have many medical bills to pay. She added that she is “on an unpaid FMLA leave,” which stands for Family and Medical Leave while waiting for heart surgery.
“In the meantime, if you are one of my CISD friends and you have a day or two to give—I would be most grateful for anything that you could give. I really hate asking, but pride aside, donate days would help me out tremendously,” Thompson added. “I am finding out that heart surgery is some of the most expensive around!”
