Andy Cohen Shares Summer Weight Loss Secret

Andy Cohen opened up about his ongoing health journey. On Sept. 9, the Bravo host revealed that he used a weight loss drug over the summer, under the guidance of his doctor.

Speaking on Sirius XM’s Andy Cohen Live, Cohen, 57, shared that he “lost a good chunk of weight” by using a GLP-1 during his summer hiatus. GLP-1 drugs are medications that help lower blood sugar levels and promote weight loss, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

The father of two did not reveal which drug he used but noted that he wanted to explain his weight loss to fans so as not to be “hypocritical.”

“Given that for 20 years I have been asking people about their body regimens and that I’ve been pretty vocal about every time I go on a diet … I do think it would be completely hypocritical not to share that I did this summer lose a good chunk of weight by micro-dosing a GLP-1 all summer,” Cohen said.

Andy Cohen Used the GLP-1 Drug ‘A Few Times’

Cohen addressed his weight loss while speaking with his radio co-host, John Hill.

“I was really unhappy with my weight,” the “Watch What Happens Live” host said. “My doctor and I talked about this last year, had recommended a GLP-1 a few times to not only address what I was feeling about my weight, but treat plaque in my arteries and high blood pressure. This is a medication that actually is beneficial to a lot of elements of health, and I finally said ‘yes.'”

Cohen said the drug “really helped’ him resist food cravings and helped him become “more disciplined” with his diet and with working out. “I am on a pretty rigorous health journey,” he said.

Cohen shared that he began lifting heavier weights during his workouts and cut out snacking and excess alcohol.

“I am still drinking, but not crazy and perhaps most importantly, I’m not snacking after the craving after I drink,” he said. “I’m so happy also to have been on this journey under the care of a doctor and working with a trainer to make sure that we have done this right,” he added. “I will say, my appetite returned from the micro-dose, but I feel like it caused me to reframe my relationship with food because it was s***ty before this.”

He also explained why he wanted to personally address his weight loss on-air. “I feel so strongly that I can’t be the one asking all the personal questions of, specifically, the Housewives. ‘How did you do it? What did you do to your face? How did you do the weight loss?’ And then be the guy who’s suddenly lost 25 pounds but isn’t mentioning it,” he said.

Cohen previously noted that a lot of “Real Housewives” stars lost weight using drugs such as Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro. In September 2022, he tweeted, “Everyone is suddenly showing up 25 pounds lighter. What happens when they stop taking #Ozempic ?????”

He later explained why he asks Housewives stars about their weight loss.

On the April  5, 2023 episode of “Andy Cohen Live,” Cohen explained, “I’m trying to deliver the goods for my audience watching. I mean, if [RHONJ star] Dolores [Catania] shows up looking 15 pounds lighter, I gotta find out how it happened.”
