“Below Deck Mediterranean” is back for Season 10! Episodes air on Bravo on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET. and can be streamed on Peacock the next day. However, the latest episode is absolutely heartbreaking. Spoiler alert if you have not seen it.
Victoria SanJuan Details Heartbreaking Details of Loss
In the Season 10 episode, which aired on Monday, September 29, steward Victoria SanJuan opened up about her life and the tragedy she experienced on one of her birthdays, not long before she appeared on the reality TV show. SanJuan was discussing her life with Chief Stew Aesha Scott and Kizzi Kitchener. She revealed how she was single, but it was not from a breakup; instead, her boyfriend died.
“Technically I am single. But mine is very tragic,” she said, Us Weekly reports. “Eleven months — on my birthday — my boyfriend passed away.” Her boyfriend was a dive instructor, but he drowned, and she referred to the incident as a “mystery.”
Also in the episode, SanJuan reflected on how she had first met her boyfriend, whose name was Bon, when she was trying to get her dive certification. “He was a dive instructor at the time, and I had a whole romance with him. We did everything together,” she said in the confessional on “Below Deck Mediterranean.” “It was beautiful. Losing someone I love so much, your heart physically hurts. The first two months I was, like, brain dead.”
Losing her boyfriend has also sworn her off scuba diving, as she confessed that she “just couldn’t do it.”
Aesha Scott Shows Support For Victoria SanJuan
Scott, who heard SanJuan’s story firsthand, told Us Weekly her feelings about her stew and how she thought she was an “incredible human.” She continued, “I was like, ‘If the love of my life died a year prior, who knows how long it would take me [to get back to work].’ But it’s a really hard thing to throw yourself into — especially over that anniversary. That’s one of the elements about the show — which is it’s a continued theme throughout the season — is people going through real (expletive) that a lot of the viewers will relate to.”
Scott also acknowledged how SanJuan’s story will impact viewers. “There are people at home that will watch that and be like, ‘Oh my god, I had my partner pass away,’ she said. “I think there’s going to be a lot of different elements that people will resonate with.”
