In a statement to People, the network shared that it is “heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mary’s beloved son, Robert Jr.” It continued, “Mary is a cherished member of our family, and our thoughts, love, and deepest condolences are with her and her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
It has also been reported that production on “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” which was scheduled to begin filming in Utah this week, has been halted, People reports. Although it is unclear how long this pause will be and whether Mary will return for the new season.
Robert Cosby Jr.’s Passing & Mary Cosby’s Heartfelt Statement
Robert Cosby Jr. died in Utah on Monday, Febuary 23. He was 23. TMZ was the first to report the news on Wednesday, February 25. Robert Jr.’s cause of death has yet to be made public, but “Police responded to a possible overdose, and it turned into a death investigation upon arrival,” TMZ reports.
Mary broke her silence not long after the outlet reported her son’s death. She made a heartbreaking statement on Instagram that highlighted the strength of her faith. “Our beloved son Robert Cosby Jr. has been called home to the Lord,” she wrote. “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.” Her statement has been viewed over 4 million times and has been flooded with supportive messages.
Mary’s “Real Housewives” co-stars and other members of the “Real Housewives” franchise have left comments as a show of support. This includes Andy Cohen, who commented, “I love you Mary. You did your very best We are all praying for your family.”
