Brittany Cartwright is sharing a new update on her son Cruz as she continues to navigate co-parenting with Jax Taylor. During a recent appearance on Bravo’s “The Valley After Show,” Cartwright spoke about Cruz’s progress and how recent changes at home may be helping.
Cartwright said her 4-year-old son has made noticeable strides, including speaking more. She also discussed how her separation from Taylor may have impacted their family dynamic.
Brittany Cartwright Shares Cruz Update on ‘The Valley After Show’
Cartwright said Cruz has been “saying more words here and there” and described recent improvements as “big wins.”
“I think that Cruz’s growth is, honestly… I hate to say this, but, like, seeing his mom happier and being, you know, out of a toxic situation,” Cartwright said. “And maybe even seeing his dad happier whenever he’s with him. I don’t know. That could be helping everybody.”
She also credited stability at home as a factor. “We’re grounded again,” Cartwright said. “And it’s his safe space and his happy place. I just think that he’s doing so much better because he’s not being moved around to all these different places.”
Cartwright added that she monitors Cruz’s time at Taylor’s home. “But I make him send me videos before I let Cruz go over there,” she said. “And he does have, like, a nice room and a nice playroom for Cruz.”
She also shared a lighthearted moment about Taylor taking items from her home. “I’ve caught him taking some toys out of my house to take over there. And I’m just like, ‘Just buy your own.’ But whatever; it’s for my son, so I don’t care.”
‘The Valley’ Star and Jax Taylor Finalize Custody Agreement
Cartwright and Taylor have reached a custody agreement for Cruz, according to court documents obtained by People. The former couple will share joint legal and physical custody.
Taylor will have Cruz every other weekend and on Wednesday nights, while Cartwright will have him the remaining days. They will make decisions together regarding Cruz’s health, education, and welfare. If they cannot agree, Cartwright will have final say on health-related decisions.
The agreement also outlines additional terms, including a six-month waiting period before introducing Cruz to new partners. Both parents agreed not to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs while caring for their son.
Cartwright and Taylor also agreed to avoid speaking negatively about each other in front of Cruz and will attempt to celebrate his birthdays together.
Cartwright previously filed for divorce in August 2024, though the process has been delayed. She addressed the situation during an appearance on the “Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey” podcast.
“The hardest thing about the actual divorce is just that it keeps getting pushed back and pushed back and pushed back,” Cartwright said. “I’ve got everything in now, so I am good to go… but if the other person doesn’t, then it just keeps getting delayed and delayed.”
She also shared that co-parenting remains a work in progress. “Some days are good and just fine,” Cartwright said. “Other days are just the same.”
New episodes of season 3 of “The Valley” air Wednesday nights on Bravo.
