Channing Tatum Debunks 1 of Jax Taylor’s Most Outlandish ‘Mysteries’

Channing Tatum is setting the record straight on one of the Bravosphere’s longest-running “unsolved mysteries” — and yes, it involves Jax Taylor.

Channing Tatum Addresses Jax Taylor Roommate Rumor

During a recent appearance on SiriusXM with Andy Cohen, Tatum was asked to clear up a claim Taylor made more than a decade ago.

In a 2023 Rolling Stone interview, Taylor claimed he once shared a dorm-style model apartment with Tatum back in their early modeling days. Fans of “Vanderpump Rules” — and now “The Valley” — have spent years wondering if it was actually true.

“Your name has come up several times on a little broadcast television show called ‘Vanderpump Rules,’” Cohen said to Tatum. “Were you the roommate of someone called Jax on ‘Vanderpump Rules,’ Jason Cauchi?”

“Absolutely not,” Tatum answered immediately.

Cohen pressed further, asking for clarity. “You never lived with this person or a Tom Sandoval? There’s someone called Jason Cauchi on ‘Vanderpump Rules’ who now goes by Jax, who said that in the day, when you were both young models, he was a roommate of yours. Any recollection of this?”

Tatum replied, “I need to see pictures of him, because sometimes they’ll put you in a model house that just has a bed, [but] I don’t think so.”

When Cohen showed him a picture of Taylor, the “Magic Mike” star didn’t miss a beat. “All models look the same,” he quipped. “Depending on who he was represented by, then I probably would have met him, but I don’t think I ever room-mated with him.”

This exchange officially puts the long-running rumor to rest — though in classic Taylor fashion, the original story was a memorable one.

The Former Reality Star Claimed They Were Struggling Models Together

In his 2023 Rolling Stone interview, Taylor described living with Tatum and four other aspiring models in New York. “I started modeling in Miami and went to New York, and I was with this agency called Ford,” he said at the time. “This was around 2002, and those agencies had apartments for models that were coming into town. They’re basically like dorm rooms with bunk beds. A tiny room with bunk beds and a bathroom.”

Taylor claimed, “Channing was one of six guys in our room. Now, he got famous real quick. He did this Mountain Dew commercial where he flipped a car, and once he got that job, he took off. We lived off peanut butter and jelly and Subway. We got some free dinners and got to go to any clubs we wanted. But other than that, we were just broke and trying to make a living.”

While Taylor’s story made for great reality TV lore, Tatum’s response makes it clear: this mystery is officially solved.

The timing of the revelation is fitting. Taylor recently announced he’s stepping back from reality TV after two somewhat disastrous seasons of “The Valley” and eight seasons of “Vanderpump Rules.”

“After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley,” Taylor said in a statement to E! News. “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting.”
