Gina Kirschenheiter may be engaged, but “The Real Housewives of Orange County”star is in no rush to walk down the aisle.
During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” on Thursday, Aug. 6, Kirschenheiter opened up about her future wedding plans and explained why she and fiancé Travis Mullen have not set a date yet.
No Plans Are in Progress
The reality star admitted that marriage is not her immediate priority as she focuses on her children, career and financial goals.
“I’m not planning a wedding,” Kirschenheiter said. “Honestly, I’m taking my time.”
She explained that she views marriage as something that should happen at the right moment rather than something to rush into.
“I feel like marriage is a marathon. Why we have to sprint to get that done?” she shared.
The RHOC star said she wants to focus on helping her children reach important milestones before putting all of her energy into planning a wedding celebration.
“I want to get my kids through school and then I feel like then I can really focus on that,” she said. “Like, I just have other goals. I’m building a business, I’m making investments, I’m saving for college. That’s my focus right now.”
However, Kirschenheiter made it clear that she does hope to celebrate her marriage in a big way when the time comes.
“And then once I’m through that, I’m going to throw a rager. But I just want to be able to do that,” she added.
She Wants a Prenup
Along with taking her time with wedding planning, Kirschenheiter has also been open about wanting a prenuptial agreement before marrying Mullen.
“I’m for it. I think everybody should do that. I think it’s smart,” she told Us Weekly about prenups. “I think it is just setting yourself up for financial success and I think it also eliminates a lot of the hard parts.”
Kirschenheiter explained that a prenup is not about expecting a relationship to fail, but rather about having a clear plan for the future.
“Should something happen ultimately, you know, that you don’t want to happen, should you get divorced, it takes a lot of the messiness out of it,” she said.
The reality star, who was previously married to Matthew Kirschenheiter, shares three children with her ex-husband. She noted that protecting finances is not a reflection of how much someone loves their partner.
“If you love that person now, in my opinion, you should do that,” she said. “A prenup is not just about if you get divorced, right? It’s just, like, good financial planning.”
Kirschenheiter also pointed out that she and Mullen, who has three children of his own, share a business together, making financial planning even more important.
“Also, you don’t know what’s going to happen in life in general,” she said. “God forbid something happens to myself or Travis. I want to know what that looks like too.”
The couple became engaged in 2023 after dating for several years.
While wedding bells may not be coming immediately, Kirschenheiter appears focused on building a strong foundation for the future — both personally and financially.
