“Real Housewives of Orange County” star Katie Ginella is addressing traffic citations from the summer filming season. She is also moving forward with personal projects and finding support from fellow cast members.
Court records obtained by Us Weekly reveal that Ginella was pulled over by police on June 3. She received tickets for driving without a valid license and using a cell phone while driving. The 41-year-old reality star reportedly had a valid out-of-state license at the time. She has since obtained an active California license, according to the outlet.
Similar Legal Issues Among Cast Members
Ginella’s traffic citation mirrors troubles faced by her co-star Shannon Beador. Beador received a similar ticket for using a cell phone while driving on May 21. The incident occurred less than two weeks before Ginella’s. She addressed her citation during an August 13 interview on Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast.
“Everything’s fine! I was coming from an interview confessional, and I got a new puppy, and when I was at a red light, my phone buzzed,” Beador explained. She maintained that her car was not in motion when she looked at her phone.
Beador is currently serving criminal probation following her September 2023 arrest for alleged DUI and hit-and-run charges. Her probation is scheduled to end in late 2026.
Despite facing similar legal challenges, the relationship between Ginella and Beador has deteriorated significantly during the current season of “RHOC.” Their friendship ended after Beador discovered that Ginella had secretly recorded her at a photoshoot. Afterward, she shared the recording with her husband.
During a cast dinner, Ginella acknowledged her actions. She told Beador, “I was on the phone with my two business partners, having a meeting. You came in and you were screaming, and I recorded on a voice note and sent it to Matt.” Beador left the dinner and has not forgiven Ginella for the incident.
Writing Her Story and Finding Support
Amid the drama, Ginella has announced plans to share her perspective through a memoir. She revealed to Bravo’s Daily Dish that the book idea came to her during the season 18 reunion. “I am in the process of finishing a book that I am writing,” she shared. “It’s better if it comes from my mouth — what happened in my past, my growth, and growing up. So, I’m writing a book.”
The memoir will include personal letters she has written to her daughter, Kaili, throughout her life. The book will also cover topics such as relationships and family history. “It’s like, don’t date this type of guy, be this kind of girl, this is how your biological father and I met, this is why it failed,” Ginella explained
Ginella has found some support from former costar Tamra Judge, who has defended her against criticism from other cast members. Speaking to Us Weekly at Alexis Bellino’s bridal shower, Judge offered her perspective on the mounting tension.
“I honestly have not seen Katie since the last time we filmed together, but we definitely have DMed back and forth,” Judge revealed. “I know what it’s like to be an outsider with these girls and how hard it can be, and I think it’s backfiring. I think that the fans love her.”
Judge acknowledged that Ginella has made mistakes but believes the reaction has been disproportionate. “Did she mess up? She did. Is she a terrible person who’s a danger to society? No,” she stated.
Ginella joined “RHOC” in season 18 as the first Asian American and Korean American adoptee on the franchise. She has spoken about feeling isolated during the filming process. “I felt very alone on an island. I felt very outed, and it’s a very familiar feeling for me, so it was very difficult,” she told Us Weekly.
She connected her current experience to her childhood. “I also grew up in a predominantly white community as the only Asian American, so this is just a very familiar feeling.”
The Orange County court case regarding Ginella’s traffic citations remains open. Meanwhile, she continues to navigate both her legal matters and the ongoing drama with her “RHOC” castmates.
