Danielle Fishel‘s schedule for “Dancing With the Stars” was so grueling that her 6-year-old son dreamed up a story about her. Fishel shares that her son told teachers the “Boy Meets World” star had died.
Danielle Fishel’s Son Told Teacher: ‘My Mom Is Dead’
Fishel kicked off her “Dancing With the Stars” season 34 journey in September, with rehearsals, interviews, and performances filling up her schedule. The “Boy Meets World” alum was eliminated from the show on November 4 after eight weeks.
On the November 10 episode of the “Pod Meets World” podcast, Fishel explained how her son Adler was unhappy with his mom’s hectic schedule for the competition show.
“I’m just not able to be there as often as I used to be,” she explained. “And now, I just haven’t really been able to be too present.”
Initially, everyone in her family seemed to be thriving, but then Adler told his teacher his mom died and his true feelings came out.
She recalled the teacher calling and telling her, “We had a little bit of an issue today with Adler, and I wanted to talk to you about it.”
The teacher explained that Adler told them “he is feeling very stressed because his dad inputted a lot of information on the computer wrong and then got fired.”
Fishel noted “not a single word” her son told the teacher was true.
Adler added, “And also, my mom died … my mom is dead.”
“The teacher was like, ‘Well, why don’t you tell me more about that?’ Because she didn’t want to shut him down,” Fishel explained. “He kept going, but then at some point just said, ‘Well, maybe that’s not true,’ and then moved on.”
Fishel’s Son Wasn’t a Fan of Her ‘DWTS’ Schedule
The actress also recalled how she picked her son up from school that day and “everything just came out.”
Fisher continued, “He bursts into tears and says, ‘I hate this job. Why did you take this job? All you do is dance, dance, dance, dance. That’s all you do! You never get to hang out with me and Keaton anymore. I want you to quit. Are you going to quit or not?'”
“And I was like, ‘Oh, it seems like maybe you’ve been feeling this way for a while, and maybe you just haven’t been telling anybody,” the actress shared.
She told him, “I can tell this is really hurting you and I’m sorry.”
“Mommy is not going to quit her job,” Fishel told him, explaining that she “really loves” it, it’s “not forever,” and she “made a commitment to the job.”
The actress shared that they eventually smoothed things over and Adler apologized. “I go around the corner and he goes, ‘I’m sorry I said all of that stuff,’ and I gave him a hug. Anyway, we’re still working through it.”
Fishel’s fans were certainly sad to see her leave the competition. “So so beautiful …Amazing final dance for her and they killed the group dance!!!” one fan commented on the video of her performance. “What a way to go, though I wish she was staying another week.”
Another fan wrote, “I’m going to miss you both❤️ You two left way too early.”
