Lauren Jauregui admits she could have reacted to her elimination from “Dancing with the Stars” a little differently.
In a January 2026 interview with People magazine, the Fifth Harmony singer admitted she could have been more “eloquent” when co-host Julianne Hough put a microphone in front of her seconds after she was told her DWTS journey was over in September.
Jauregui, 29, and her pro partner, Brandon Armstrong, were eliminated in Week 3 of the ABC ballroom competition last fall, and Jauregui had one word to describe her feelings at the time. “Pissed,” she said during the live TV broadcast.
“I could have probably been a bit more eloquent in that moment,” Jauregui admitted to People. “But you know, whatever. She was pissed. She was pissed. It’s true.”
Lauren Jauregui Says Time Has Healed Her Hurt Feelings About DWTS
Jauregui did not hide her feelings about being eliminated on DWTS’ TikTok night—especially after dancing a cha-cha-cha to a Fifth Harmony song “Work From Home.” But nearly four months later, she made peace with the disappointment.
“Time healed the wounds,” she said. Still, the singer explained added that she’s always going to be “mad” if she’s eliminated from something.
“In the moment, don’t ever put a microphone in my face on live camera after you eliminate me off something, baby. I’m always going to be mad,” she clarified.

While her time on “Dancing With the Stars” was cut short, Jauregui has said she doesn’t regret signing on to the ABC dance-off.
Speaking on the Dancing With the Stars official podcast in October, she noted that the show was a “beautiful opportunity” for her.
“Most people know me, obviously, as a singer,” she said. “When you sing and dance at the same time, you have to be really mindful of breath control and ’cause that mic is on, baby. I don’t want to miss a note, so I won’t go as hard on a move, to reserve my energy. But this show gave me the opportunity to give my 110 percent as a dancer, which I’ve never really gotten to do in front of the world before. So it was really beautiful, special opportunity. “
Jauregui also explained her blunt reaction to her untimely elimination from the show.
“I’m a crybaby, I’m sorry,” she said. “The judges scored me the way that they did and then the voting was the next part. … But here I am, hey guys, thanks for not f—ing voting,” she cracked.

A lot of bizarre, unexpected eliminations have happened throughout the seasons on DWTS, any competitor has to be ready to react with some dignity, in case it happens to them.
