As the United States celebrated Mother’s Day on May 10, Kate Gosselin had another special occasion on her mind. The sextuplets she shares with her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, turned 22 years old.
Over the past few years, Kate has shied away from posting her children on social media. Now that they are all adults, they have lives of their own and value their privacy.
But in a recent update, the reality TV mom detailed how they spent the sextuplets’ birthday and Mother’s Day weekend. While they had a great time overall, there were a few hiccups.
Kate Gosselin & Her Daughter Leah Were in a Car Accident Over the Weekend
Car accidents can be incredibly frightening and stressful in any normal situation. But the situation certainly escalates when they happen over an important weekend. Sadly, that was the case for Kate Gosselin and her daughter, Leah.
“To say it was eventful would be an understatement!” the former TLC star captioned a TikTok video.
As the video began, Kate noted that the weekend got off to a rough start. Leah pulls up in her SUV. Then, the clip cuts to an image of the vehicle after the wreck. The front of the SUV is completely dented in. Thankfully, neither Kate nor Leaf suffered any injuries. Unfortunately, Leah’s car was declared a total loss.
“But as they say, the show must go on. We had a BIRTHDAY to celebrate! And lots of catching up to do!” Kate Gosselin continued in the video. She and four of the sextuplets sat around a table to celebrate their bithdays. Leah, Joel, Alexis, and Aaden grew up with their mother, while Hannah and Collin lived with their father, Jon. Hannah, Collin, and Jon weren’t present in the video.
Kate then described how she attempted to bake a birthday cake, but it didn’t turn out right. Even Leah, the baker of the family, couldn’t salvage it.
“Finally we ended the weekend with a Mother’s Day,” the reality TV star concluded the video. “Birthday bash combo with a ‘CHUNK’ of my kids.”
In the comments, fans left well-wishes for the sextuplets.
“Kate, love the pictures. PS. We need to bubble wrap you!!!!!” one fan wrote.
However, others felt sad that Collin and Hannah weren’t part of the celebration.
“I pray one day you can sit at the table with all of your kids again!” one TikToker added.
The Reality Star Returned to Nursing After Television
Although Kate Gosselin is best known for her run on TLC in “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” she went on to appear in a handful of other reality television shows, including “Dancing With the Stars.”
She returned to her career as a nurse after stepping away from the chaos of reality television.
Jon Gosselin went on to remarry after their explosive divorce. While Kate hasn’t tied the knot again, she did confirm her relationship with Steve Neild.
“One girl. 10 obsessions,” the reality star captioned an Instagram post. In the video, she revealed her boyfriend as one of her obsessions.
Fans hope Kate Gosselin will be able to mend fences with Collin and Hannah someday.
