DWTS Alum Wants Back on the Show

Many celebrities who have competed on “Dancing With the Stars” believe they went home too early. One of them is comedian and talk show host Sherri Shepherd. Now, she’s opening up about her experience in a new interview.

Shepherd was on the September 22 episode of “Watch What Happens Live” and talked about why she wants back on the show after more than a decade for a second shot at the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

While on the Bravo series, she confided in Andy Cohen about her elimination, saying, “I think I was unfairly eliminated. I got eliminated during the tango, and I love salsa, bachata, and tango.”

Shepherd continued, “I got to the fourth week, and I was eliminated.”

But she would love to do “Dancing With the Stars” again, she said. “I really want them … if they have a fan favorite [season], I would love to go back to Dancing With the Stars. I loved it. It was the best experience of my life.

“I loved being on the show because it’s such a family. I keep in touch with everybody,” she said.

Shepherd competed on season 12 of “Dancing With the Stars” in 2011 with Val Chmerkovskiy as her partner.

Shepherd Cried After Being Eliminated From ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Shepherd currently hosts the hit daytime talk show “Sherri.” According to PEOPLE, she opened up in a recent episode about being eliminated and revealed that she cried “profusely.”

“People thought I was crying because I didn’t execute my paso doble correctly,” she said. “But I literally was crying because I was calculating my bills.”

She went on to say that she had plans to use the money to pay for her son’s tuition as well as her mortgage. Shepherd then joked, “I’ve gotta take that car back because I thought I was gonna get the Mirrorball.”

She added, “I need money!” Shepherd explained that it’s in the best interest of the stars to last longer on the show because it means they’ll earn more money.

‘Sherri’ Has Been on for Multiple Seasons

Despite not winning “Dancing With the Stars,” Shepherd’s career has been on the upswing ever since. Her talk show began in syndication in 2022 following the end of the iconic “Wendy Williams Show.” Notably, her show is produced by the same company, Debmar Mercury. She even guest-hosted “The Wendy Williams Show” in Wendy’s absence.

Additionally, Shepherd appeared in Tyler Perry’s recent Netflix movie, “Straw.”
