Tom Bergeron is loved by “Dancing with the Stars” fans because of his long history with the show. Bergeron has revealed what he misses most about the ABC dance competition, and fans have reacted with supportive messages about how he is missed.
Tom Bergeron Shares a DWTS Throwback
DWTS Season 34 is an incredible show, and the level of talent this season has really impressed fans. There are many fan favorites, and the Mirrorball Trophy can go to anyone at this point. In an Instagram post on Thursday, October 23, Bergeron posted a photo of himself surrounded by professional dancers and other key figures from the show.
The photo appears to have been taken at one of his infamous mid-season cast parties. “What do I miss most about @dancingwiththestars? Hmm. Let me think? #20thanniversary,” he wrote in the caption.
Fans reacted to the photo with messages of support. “Iconic! The Tom mid season parties were the best!!!!!! “ a comment reads. “This crew right here!” another person shared.
Other comments include, “We get it you’re coming back as a judge,” “ABC messed up big time, but im glad they got Alfonso now, to me personally i think he hosts like you,” and “legend.”
Former DWTS professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd also commented on the photo. “I need the Tom mid-season party to come back asap,” she wrote.
Why Tom Bergeron Left DWTS
Bergeron was fired from the show and publicly criticized the dance competition in a 2019 statement on X. He left the show in 2020.
Bergeron discussed what happened between him and the show’s producers in a 2023 appearance on Cheryl Burke’s “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” podcast, saying that he did not want any political figures on the show because he wanted it to be “the wonderful escape from all that divisiveness for two hours a week,” The Hollywood Reporter reports.
Despite Bergeron’s exit from DWTS, his time on the show is remembered fondly. The retired host was part of the show for the first 28 seasons, and although there is a lot of support for current co-hosts Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro, many still wish Bergeron were part of the show.
On his podcast chat, he showed support for the current hosts, who took over in Season 32. He described Hough as “perfect,” and of Ribeiro, he said he was “thrilled for him,” The Hollywood Reporter reports.

I certainly miss you!! Alfonso is great, but you were so much better. ABC really messed up when they fired you. I honestly think they lost a lot of viewers of the show. I would have stopped watching DWTS after ABC fired you, but I love dancing and watching all the contestants and professionals, not because ABC is loyal. Look what they did to Jimmy Kimmel. I’m just sayin’.
I agree! His statement was honest and exactly what most people want to hear . I can’t believe he was fired for that. I will always miss him and the kindness and humor he shared.
Tom Bergeron is sorely missed. Tyra Banks was a nightmare. Alphonso and Julie Anne are fine but Tom was the best.
