Tom Bergeron announced his “Dancing with the Stars” comeback during an appearance on “Good Morning America” on November 5. The announcement was completely unexpected, but fans could not be happier!
Tom Bergeron’s Return
In a clip posted by GMA on Instagram, Bergeron is seen walking into the interview carrying a tray of doughnuts and a mirror ball. The hosts applaud him, and Bergeron reveals he is excited to take on the role of special guest judge. ”I’m really looking forward to it,” he said. He also gave credit to showrunner Conrad Green. “He really kind of extended the olive branch and got me reminiscing about all the fond memories,” Bergeron said. “So yeah, I’m looking forward to getting back.”
Fans flooded the clip with messages of love and support. Professional dancer and current co-host of DWTS, Julianne Hough, also reacted. “The legend himself,” she wrote, followed by a red heart emoji.

The news comes five years after Bergeron left the show, which he joined in 2005, and many fans never expected to see him back. But he is, and it couldn’t have come at a better time because DWTS is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
The “Dancing with the Stars” Instagram account also announced Bergeron’s inclusion in the show with an official post. #DWTS welcomes the legendary @tombergeron as Guest Judge for our 20th Birthday Party! #DWTS20,” the caption reads. Fans are overwhelmed with emotion and have flooded the comment section with their thoughts.
“My inner child is healed the show is not the same without Tom,” a comment reads. “The legend is back!!!! You have been missed!! (Even tho I do like our hosts now),” another person shared.
Other reactions include, “Very excited and it’s great to see Tom Bergeron is back in the ballroom as a guest judge!
