Keith Urban First Announced ‘Flow State’ in April 2026

Country superstar Keith Urban first announced that he had recorded an album of Yacht Rock favorites at a Nashville, Tennessee, pop-up show in late April 2026.

In an Instagram post, Urban wrote that “Flow State” was intended as a “fun little project.” Later, it turned into a full-fledged album.

The album includes covers of songs like “Steal Away,” “Baby Come Back,” “Just the Two of Us,” “On and On” and “Summer Breeze/” The tracks feature appearances from artists such as Little Big Town on “Magnet and Steel,” John Mayer on “Guitar Man” and Michael McDonald on “We Go Back.”

He told Sirius XM, “[The project] started from me buying a studio in town. I acquired that studio in 2024.”

“I was trying to find something that would be simple and fun to do,” he continued. “Maybe, I thought, ‘What if we do one or two Yacht Rock songs?'”

“Just to break the studio in for a bit of fun,” he continued. “That was it. There was no big preconceived idea. We recorded two songs, and the session band came in, and we all looked at each other and said, ‘This sounded really good.'”

He concluded, “I thought it was going to be an EP, something fun. And it just kept growing and growing over the next four, five, six months. We ended up with a whole album.”

“It doesn’t have to be on a boat where you have to listen to this music. You just get into a flow state, and the title just really seemed to fit it.”

“Flow State” will be available for download on June 12. A vinyl LP will be released on July 10.
