Four years ago, the first episode of “NCIS: Hawaiʻi” premiered, starring Vanessa Lachey as Special Agent Jane Tennant. Before filming, she and her husband, Nick Lachey, along with their three children, relocated to Hawaiʻi.
However, the move also meant that the former “Dancing With the Stars” contestants had to leave their Tarzana, Los Angeles, home, just five months after they had moved in.
“That’s always been our dream house,” Nick, 51, told Us Weekly. “[We] never really got to spend time there the way we wanted to.”
In 2022, tennis star Naomi Osaka bought the home from the couple for $6.3 million. Three years later, the Lacheys have repurchased it.
Lacheys Snag Their Old Home Back for $7.95 Million
When the Lacheys sold their home and moved to Hawaiʻi, they had no idea they’d be moving back to California three years later. When CBS cancelled “NCIS: Hawaiʻi, despite decent ratings, there was no reason to stay. They bought a home in Encino for $6.1 million, but when the opportunity to move back into their old house arose, they jumped at.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Osaka made some upgrades, such as building “a new structure containing a gym and a recovery center.” The ‘recovery center’ featured a sauna, a cold plunge, a steam room, and a massage table.
Surprisingly, the property didn’t have a tennis court. However, it did have an outdoor pool, hot tub, pickleball court, and fantastic mountain views. Thanks to the renovations, the four-time Grand Slam winner was asking $8.295 million, but the Lacheys got it for $7.95 million.
Nick told Us Weekly that it was “surreal” to be back in the house. “It’s a weird scenario,” he said.
“We’re thrilled to be back, the kids are thrilled to be back, it’s all meant to be,” he continued. “I already told [Vanessa] I’m never moving again. They’re gonna have to pry my dead body out of that place, I’m not moving!”
After Difficult Goodbye, the Lacheys Embrace New Beginnings Post-Show
Vanessa was heartbroken when CBS cancelled “NCIS: Hawaiʻi.”
“I wish we had more time, I’m sorry we don’t. I wish we had a proper good-bye, I’m sorry we didn’t,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I know we ALL are connected deeper than any TV show. I will go to the ends of the earth for my cast & crew! If you come across ANY of them… hire them! You won’t be disappointed. Salt of the earth people!”
“In Hawai’i we don’t say ‘Good-Bye’, we say ‘A Hui Hou’ it means ‘until we meet again’,” she added. “To you all & especially the beloved fans… A Hui Hou.”
While it was difficult for the family to leave Hawai’i, the couple has a lot going on back on the mainland. And now the hosts of “Love is Blind” and “The Perfect Match” can settle back into their dream home to do it all.
