Olympian Ryan Lochte‘s wife, Kayla Reid, filed for divorce in March 2025 after seven years of marriage. On July 8, Lochte spoke about the end of his relationship in an interview with People. “I never wanted to get a divorce,” he said. “We were unhappy for a very long time.”
However, the “Dancing with the Stars” alum, who competed for the Mirrorball Trophy on Season 23, had a very optimistic outlook for the future, and being in a new relationship months after his split has helped him achieve that.
Ryan Lochte Reveals He Is Happy
Lochte is in a relationship with Molly Gillihan, and in an Instagram post on Thursday, August 28, he gave a glimpse into their coupling. Lochte posted a photo of himself and Gillihan posing side by side. He has his arm around her, and they are smiling as they stand in an open field. “Happiness looks good on me. Can’t hear the outside noise,” he wrote. “All smiles with you even thru obstacles thrown at us.” He tagged Gillihan in the photo.
The comment section of the post has come alive with comments from fans, some of which are very supportive. “You deserve to be happy! Congrats,” a fan shared. “Great! so happy for you,” another person wrote.
“I’m happy for you my guy!” a third comment reads.

Ryan Lochte Gives Details About His Girlfriend
Almost two months ago, on July 8, Lochte gave details about his relationship with Gillihan, whom he referred to as his “best friend” in his interview with People. He and Gillihan met because their children attend the same school. Their relationship has happened fast, but Lochte revealed that their connection is undeniable and stated it is “the happiest I’ve ever been.”
“Everything happens for a reason, and it was God’s way of saying enough is enough between both of you, between me and Kayla, of just being miserable and not happy and not living our best life. So we got separated and now I’m living my best life,” he said.
He continues, “After she [Kayla] served me the divorce, I left, I got out the house, I got a new house. I was living in there by myself, I was moving on with my life tying to be happy again. I pursued her [Molly], I asked her out. She was hesitant because she was like, ‘Aren’t you still married?’ I was like, ‘No I’m not, I’m divorced, it’s over.’”
Now, their relationship appears to be stronger than ever, although it is still relatively new.
