WATCH: Ricki Lake Turns Ashes From Her Burned Malibu Home Into Diamond Necklace

Ricki Lake has found a deeply personal way to honor the home she lost in the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

The former “Hairspray” star revealed in a Friday, March 13 Instagram video that she was gifted a green diamond necklace using ashes recovered from her former Malibu property — a place she once described as her “dream home.”

Lake’s house was destroyed on Jan. 7, 2025, during catastrophic wildfires that swept through parts of Los Angeles.

Lake Unboxes the Stunning Necklance

While the structure itself is gone, the actress partnered with Eterneva to transform remnants of the property into a lasting piece of jewelry.

In the emotional video, the 57-year-old unboxed the necklace for the first time and explained the symbolic meaning behind the ashes used to create the stone.

The material was collected from several locations on the property that held special significance.

That included the home’s front gate, the master bedroom — which she described as the “power point” for her family — and an area in the backyard known as the “ceremonial circle.”

That spot carried especially deep meaning for Lake because it is where the ashes of her late ex-husband, Christian Evans, were buried after his death in 2017.

The finished necklace also includes a custom engraving. On the back of the pendant is a phoenix — a symbol of rebirth — along with the date the fire destroyed her home.

Lake Expresses Her Gratitude

As she revealed the piece in the video, Lake shared how much the necklace means to her.

“I will wear this with so much honor and pride and joy,” she said. “Yes we’ve lost so much, but we’ve gained a lot too.”

In the caption accompanying the post, Lake described the project as both meaningful and symbolic after such a difficult loss.

“Everything from where the ashes came from, the science behind it, and the finishing touches are so symbolic to my experience and proof that something beautiful can come from tragedy and sadness,” she wrote. “Home is literally where the heart is.”

The loss of the Malibu property was especially devastating for Lake, who had once called it “heaven on earth.”

She previously shared that the home was where she and her husband, Ross Burningham, planned to grow old together.

After the fire, Lake admitted that the idea of rebuilding initially felt overwhelming.

“It’s exhausting and paralyzing,” she wrote at the time when reflecting on the destruction.

The couple has since relocated to New York City to begin a new chapter.
