Hollywood Turns Out for Giorgio Armani’s Emotional Milan Fashion Show Tribute PHOTOS

Celebrities gathered in Milan to honor the life and legacy of Giorgio Armani just weeks after the fashion icon’s death. The designer passed away on September 4 at the age of 91, but the Spring/Summer 2026 Giorgio Armani show carried his unmistakable influence.

The Giorgio Armani runway show took place on September 28 at the Pinacoteca di Brera museum, closing out Milan Fashion Week with an emotional tribute that doubled as a celebration of the brand’s 50th anniversary, according to People. The front row was filled with stars, including Cate Blanchett, Glenn Close, Lauren Hutton, Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, Richard Gere, Alejandra Silva, Anna Wintour, and Leslie Bibb.

Jackson, who has long collaborated with Armani, paid tribute to the designer after his death. “Thank you, Mr. Giorgio Armani, for your countless years of friendship, collaboration, and dedication to your visionary craft. May GOD BLESS YOU as you are welcomed into eternal peace,” he wrote on Instagram earlier this month.

The show itself reflected Armani’s signature elegance. “Suspended in anticipation, these silhouettes carry the emotional charge of what is about to be revealed,” the brand posted on Instagram.

“With textures shaped by sea light and hues echoing mineral heat, each⁣ look anticipates… drawn between shadow and brilliance, each silhouette becomes a passage toward the unveiling of the Giorgio Armani Spring Summer 2026 Women’s Fashion Show.”

Armani’s Final Months Focused on His Legacy

The Milan presentation wasn’t the only tribute. Armani kicked off a series of events on August 30 at the Venice Film Festival with the launch of his digital archive, Armani/Archivio, followed by an A-list dinner attended by Blanchett, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Molly Gordon, and Gemma Chan. Days later, Milan’s Brera Art Gallery opened the “Giorgio Armani, Milano, for love” exhibition, showcasing over 100 pieces hand-selected by Armani himself.

According to the Armani Group, via WWD, the designer “worked until the very end” on staging the shows and curating the exhibitions. His determination ensured that even after his death, his work would be presented exactly as he intended.

In his final interview with the Financial Times, published on August 29, Armani admitted that his “only regret in life” was “spending too many hours working and not enough time with friends and family.”

Yet, in a fitting twist, Armani left behind a runway show that doubled as a memorial. Invitations carried a portrait of a young Armani, while guests like Hutton and Gere—whose Armani suit in “American Gigolo” made cinematic history—paid tribute by wearing his designs.
