Gwyneth Paltrow penned a heartfelt tribute to legendary Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani — the man whose timeless style shaped red-carpet moments and touched her own life in deeply personal ways.
Valentino, who died at age 93, was celebrated across the world for his elegant designs and cultural influence, and Paltrow’s message offered both admiration and gratitude for their decades of connection.
Paltrow’s Touching Tribute
In her emotional post on social media on Monday, January 19, Paltrow reflected on the many ways Valentino’s artistry enriched her life — from dressing her for iconic fashion moments at events like the Met Gala to creating the gown she wore at her 2018 wedding to Brad Falchuk.
Those memories underscored not only Valentino’s creative genius but the personal bonds he forged with those he dressed, something Paltrow highlighted as she honored his legacy.
She shred a sweet image of the two, as she kissed his cheek.
“I was so lucky to know and love Valentino-to know the real man, in private. The man who was in love with beauty, his family, his muses, his friends,” Paltrow wrote. “His dogs, his gardens, and a good Hollywood story. I loved him so much.”
She continued, “I loved how he always pestered me to ‘at least wear a little mascara’ when I came to dinner. I loved his naughty laugh.”
She ended her tribute by stating how much she will miss him and that “this feels like the end of an era.”
Fans and fellow fashion enthusiasts responded to Paltrow’s tribute with admiration, celebrating both Valentino’s impact on the industry and the way he made those around him feel — cherished and confident.
Many pointed to his ability to combine timeless elegance with personal expression, a quality that kept his work relevant across generations of celebrities and fashion lovers alike.
