Beloved fashion designer Valentino Garavani passed away at the age of 93, leaving behind an incredible legacy that deserves to be celebrated. The news was shared on the foundation’s Instagram page on Jan. 19, which included information about Valentino’s celebration of life.
“Valentino Garavani passed away today at his Roman residence, surrounded by his loved ones,” the post said. “The lying in state will be held at PM23 in Piazza Mignanelli 23 on Wednesday January 21st and Thursday January 22nd, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The funeral will take place on Friday, January 23rd at the Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, in Piazza della Repubblica 8 in Rome, at 11 am.”
The designer founded Valentino in 1960 in Rome, Italy, going on to become one of the most prominent fashion companies ,along with dressing celebrities such as Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Julia Roberts, and so many others.
Gwyneth Paltrow Says Valentino’s Passing Is ‘The End of an Era’
Gwyneth Paltrow took to Instagram on Monday, January 19 to pay tribute to Valentino following news of his passing.
“I was so lucky to know and love Valentino-to know the real man, in private. The man who was in love with beauty, his family, his muses, his friends. His dogs, his gardens, and a good Hollywood story. I loved him so much. I loved how he always pestered me to ‘at least wear a little mascara’ when I came to dinner. I loved his naughty laugh,” she captioned the post. “This feels like the end of an era. He will be deeply missed by me and all who loved him. Rest in peace, Vava 💔”
Valentino was responsible for some of Paltrow’s iconic looks over the years including for the Met Gala and awards shows, as well as her wedding to Brad Falchuk in 2018.
Cindy Crawford Calls Valentino ‘A True Master Of His Craft’
Iconic supermodel Cindy Crawford also shared a post on Instagram, remembering Valentino.
“I’m heartbroken to hear of Valentino Garavani’s passing. He was a true master of his craft, and I will always be grateful for the years I had the privilege of working closely with him. ❤️🩹,” she captioned the post.
Fellow legendary fashion designer also posted.
“Today, we lost a true maestro who will forever be remembered for his art. My thoughts go to Giancarlo, who never left his side for all these years,” she wrote. “He will never be forgotten 🕊”️
