When Hailey Bieber showed up to the 2025 Academy Museum Gala on Saturday, October 18, she opted to wear a stunning Schiaparelli design that featured a structured corset bodice — the same event which saw Jenna Ortega in a revealing metallic leaf top. Although Hailey looked lovely, she later revealed something rather funny about the dress.
Taking to Instagram following the event, Hailey shared a few pics of herself looking stunning at the industry event. In various shots, you can see her posing for the cameras in the brown dress that boasts a fitted design in a dark chocolate brown with a midsection in a lighter beige that pulls in at her waist.
In each photo, Hailey can be seen using her modeling skills to pose perfectly.
However, when you continue to scroll through her pics, you’ll come across one that might make you giggle.
In the photo, you can see Hailey trying to take a seat. Trying is the keyword, because she barely succeeds. Due to the corset, she’s unable to sit properly and instead leans over into the booth with her arms draped across the back to keep her up.
Plenty of People Loved Hailey’s Look
Despite any issues Hailey may have faced due to her corset dress, she still managed to wow those who saw her look.
“Beyond gorgeous,” one person wrote in the comments of her Instagram post.
Another person added, “This look defines perfection!! 🤎”
“The woman that you, are Mrs. Hailey Bieber🫦🤌🏾,” wrote someone else.
Yet another person left a comment, saying, “THAT’S MY BABE AND SHE IS THE ICON 🔥”
Modern Corset Styles are Different from the Past
GettyIf corsets of the past make you cringe at the style, you should probably know that they’ve changed over the years. While they still feature structured designs, they can embrace the corseted look without being as stiff or even painful.
“Proponents argue that, although historically restrictive, the corset takes a different form today,” according to Vogue. “Designers are tapping into corseting elements such as a fitted waist, hook and eye detailing, and boning made using modern materials such as fibre-reinforced plastic, aluminium and linen, to create sculpting effects that accentuate the body, but in a comfortable way.”
Marguerite Le Rolland, head of apparel and footwear at Euromonitor International, told Vogue, “Once symbols of constraint and oppression, forcing unrealistic beauty standards onto women, corsets today have been revisited and designed to offer greater movability while enhancing and flattering natural curves, to empower the wearer and boost their confidence.”
