Jamie’s wife of 26 years, Jools Oliver, shared a video on Instagram on Wednesday, August 5, showing their daughter’s proposal. Poppy, whose full name is Poppy Honey Rose Oliver, is the couple’s first-born child, born in March 2002. The video shows her now-fiancé, Ben Newman, getting down on one knee at a picturesque beach destination. The sun is setting in the background, and it’s a beautiful, joyous moment.
In the caption, Jools shared her thoughts on behalf of the family. “Probably one of my favourite reels so far. Our first baby Poppy Honey is getting married,” she wrote. “We are so excited, proud and happy. Ben we all adore you. Little did I know as we moved Pop in to her second house at University, whilst I was sweating over your shoe rack flat pack you seemed very distracted with the boy who had just moved in next door………. 5 years later you had met you soul mate. so excited for the next chapter. love you.”

Jamie and Jools have an incredible love story and a relationship that has withstood the test of time. On June 24, 2025, they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. The chef marked the milestone occasion with a lengthy tribute on Instagram.
“Today I’m 25 years married to this incredible woman! @joolsoliver Jools, you’re my rock. Kind, funny, always there for me and the kids,” he captioned the post. “Honestly, I couldn’t have achieved anything I’m proud of without you. What a privilege to get older with you. I still think you’re gorgeous like when we were 18 years old, even if you don’t believe it; you are! Big love Jools. Here’s to even more adventures and laughs together bring on the next 25 years. Love you so much Happy 25th wedding anniversary.”
Jamie and Jools are parents to five children, and in addition to Poppy, their children are Daisy Boo Pamela, Petal Blossom Rainbow, Buddy Bear Maurice, and River Rocket Blue Dallas. Their children’s names are quirky, and Jools acknowledged this in an interview with Gurgle magazine, Hello! Reports. “They all have more than one name because I couldn’t decide,” she said. “I’m not sure where Petal Blossom Rainbow came from—apparently, it’s a My Little Pony! I wanted to call her Rainbow, but Jamie told me to calm down.”
She continued, “With Buddy, it was quite fun choosing a boy’s name as I hadn’t done it before. And I hate people’s opinions on names. Whatever you call your baby is your decision.”
