The former Hallmark actress shared a multi-slide Instagram post on Wednesday, August 5, in which she discussed how she has changed. “The world watched me grow up … here’s what ya’ll didn’t see,” the post begins. “Every dream has a beginning; mine started with parents who worked hard, believed in us, and weren’t afraid to take a chance on a completely different path. Looking back, I realize just how much courage that took for all of us.”
In the third slide, she discussed how as a teenager, people felt they knew her, but that was not the reality. “They knew the characters. I was still figuring out the person behind them,” she wrote. Mowry expressed her gratitude for having the experiences she had, even if she did not fully understand them.
In her fourth slide, she discussed success and what this felt like. “Success can be loud, but your relationship with yourself is quiet,” she shared. “Accomplishments have a funny way of making people think you’ve figured everything out.” She admitted that again, this was not the reality because she was still learning about herself and figuring things out. However, something beautiful and empowering happened when Mowry became a mom, and it changed her perspective on many things. Her heart grew, and she discovered what unconditional love means.

Mowry and her ex-husband Cory Hardrict share two children, son Cree and daughter Cairo. Of her children, Mowry wrote that her “greatest role” is being their mom. She worked hard not to lose herself in motherhood; instead, she raised her children while meeting her personal and professional goals.
But life did not turn out the way Mowry had envisioned, and her divorce was painful and heartbreaking. She wrote that she thought her “life was over” and that she would never find love again. But she put in the work she needed to do to heal. Along the way, she rediscovered many beautiful qualities. The actress listed these: “My divine femininity, my intuition, my softness, my confidence, and my joy.”
