Sunny Anderson Reacts Humorously to ‘The Kitchen’ Cancellation After 40 Seasons

On Tuesday, October 20, it was announced that the Food Network’s cooking-themed talk show ‘The Kitchen‘ would be coming to an end.

The show — currently presented by Sunny Anderson, Katie Lee, Jeff Mauro, and Geoffrey Zakarian — has aired for 40 seasons and over 500 episodes. Previous hosts included Marcela Valladolid and Alex Guarnaschelli. Valladolid’s stint was from 2014 until 2017. Guarnaschelli co-hosted from 2020 until 2024.

‘The Kitchen’ began way back on January 4, 2014, but will air for the last time on December 13 this year. Its cancellation is sad news for its many devoted viewers. However, one of the hosts has seemingly taken the news in good spirits.

The Food Network Is ‘Immensely Grateful’ to ‘The Kitchen’s’ Alum and Viewers

When the announcement of the cancellation was made, a post on the Food Network’s official Instagram page appeared. It was captioned, “After 40 unforgettable seasons with over 500 episodes, #TheKitchen will officially come to an end on Saturday, December 13th.”

The caption continued, “We’re immensely grateful to our hosts, crew, guests, and most of all, our loyal viewers for 10+ incredible years. Thank you for tuning in, cooking along, and being part of our community. Please join us for one final holiday season together in #TheKitchen ❤️”

With the hosts tagged in the post, it prompted the show’s fans to message them. Some were sad, others contained happy memories, others had messages of good luck. Sunny Anderson, 50, replied to one fan in lighthearted fashion.

Anderson ‘Stole’ the Iconic ‘The Kitchen’ Mugs

In an Instagram Story shared by Anderson on Tuesday, October 21, a private interaction with a fan was screenshotted.

The message from the fan read, “Those Kitchen mugs are collector items now! Can’t wait to see what’s next for you on Food Network!” Anderson hilariously replied, “Happy I ‘stole’ them from set to share.”

The mugs used by the hosts on ‘The Kitchen’ are instantly recognizable to any regular viewers of the show. They will undoubtedly hold some value to collectors now that the show has been cancelled. Anderson’s reply about them is typical of the bubbly personality her fans have come to know and love.

Anderson had previously posted a story showing a congratulatory bouquet she received from Food Network. In the story, she read the accompanying note aloud, saying, “Congrats on a successful run!” She responded to the note by saying, “That’s what I’m talking about. Y’all sweet, super sweet.”

Following the cancellation of ‘The Kitchen,’ we wish Anderson and her co-hosts all the best in the future. We’re sure they won’t have any trouble landing new presenting roles, following their success on the show.
