The unfortunate cancellation of the Food Network’s ‘The Kitchen‘ after 40 seasons means current hosts Sunny Anderson, Jeff Mauro, Geoffrey Zakarian, and Katie Lee have lost the jobs they loved. However, they all seem to be reacting well to it.
Anderson gave a humorous response to a fan in a chat about the cancellation, and now Lee has spoken positively to USA Today about the situation.
Katie Lee Hailed the ‘Outpouring of People’s Support’ for ‘The Kitchen’
Getty. In a 35-second video uploaded to the USA Today website, Lee — wearing a glamorous purple dress — talks to the publication’s Ralphie Aversa before the American Ballet Theatre’s fall gala about her show coming to an end. Rather than bemoaning the situation, she chooses to focus on how nice ‘The Kitchen’s’ fans have been since the news broke.
She begins, “You know what? I have been so blown away by the reaction of our fans and followers, and it has made me feel so good to see this outpouring of people’s support of the show. We did that show for 12 years, over 500 episodes, and it was so fantastic. And I’m just so grateful for every day that I got to go there and call it work.”
Aversa then asks, “What are you going to miss the most about it?”
Lee responds by saying, “I’m going to miss my co-hosts and my crew more than anything. They became my family. And all the people behind the scenes that the people at home didn’t know that those people… I was just so close with everyone.”
What’s Next for Katie Lee?
Getty. The specifics of what lies ahead for Katie Lee following the cancellation of ‘The Kitchen’ remain unclear. However, as a talented cookbook author, food critic, actress, chef, and novelist, she certainly won’t have trouble finding work.
Per IMDb, this year alone, she’s appeared as herself on ‘Somebody Feed Phil,’ ‘Billy Joel: And So It Goes,’ and ‘Today,’ and, as an actress, in the television movie ‘Catch of the Day.’
Her past television credits have included ‘Kitchen Sink,’ ‘The Early Show,’ ‘Martha,’ ‘The Nate Berkus Show,’ ‘Iron Chef America,’ and ‘Halloween Baking Championship,” as well as her own show ‘Beach Bites with Katie Lee.’
She appeared in 356 episodes of ‘The Kitchen.’
‘The Kitchen’ will air for the last time on December 13. We wish Katie Lee all the best in her future endeavors.
