NFL Legends Enter the Kitchen for ‘The Great American Baking Show’

Football cleats are being swapped for oven mitts as some of the NFL’s biggest names step into the baking tent for a special celebrity showdown. The upcoming “The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Big Game” brings gridiron legends and sports personalities, including a former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant, together for a sweet and sometimes chaotic competition that mixes big-game bravado with flour, frosting, and plenty of playful trash talk.

NFL Icons + Baking = Success

The Roku Channel will air the second “The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Big Game” special on Sunday, February 1. The show will be hosted by Casey Wilson and Andrew Rannells, with judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, as they welcome four new sports stars to the tent.

The special will air the weekend before the 2026 Super Bowl, and now this year’s contestants have been announced. The competition will feature former Los Angeles Chargers’ tight end Antonio Gates, Washington Commanders’ linebacker Von Miller, former New England Patriots’ wide receiver Julian Edelman, and ESPN’s NFL analyst Mina Kimes.

The trailer starts with Edelman saying, “I think the competition is tight. You gotta bring your A-game because they certainly are.”

We then see some trash talk, as Miller tells Edelman, “You win everything though,” to which Edelman quipped back, “Didn’t win against you!”

How Does ‘The Great American Baking Show’ Work?

Just like the typical “Baking Show” formats, all four of the bakers will be presented with three challenges. At the end of the episode, the judges will decide which athlete is worthy of the Star Baker crown.

Longtime “The Great British Baking Show” judge Leith said these football icons will be good for this baking challenge. Leith said, “I expect our bakers will do really well. It suits their character. They do what they’re told, they follow the recipe, that’s the competitiveness of them.”

Wilson, who also hosted last year’s “Celebrity Big Game” special, asked Edelman, “So, are you out for blood?” to which he joked, “I’m out for chocolate.”

Miller said, “Never baked in my life. I just do what the coaches tell me to do. I try to be a coach’s dream,” which got a round of laughter from Leith, Hollywood, and Rannells.

When asked who she was trying to impress the most, Kimes quickly replied, “Mr. Blue Steel. Those eyes!”

“The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Big Game” airs on Sunday, February 1, on the Roku Channel.
