Mickey Rourke, 73, shared several Instagram posts on Jan. 15, where he pleaded to see Eric Dane as soon as possible as the “Grey’s Anatomy” actor battles with ALS.
Rourke’s words for Dane come at the same time as the GoFundMe campaign that was founded to support Rourke after it was suspected he was struggling financially, as reported by People.
The “Point Blank” actor said in his posts that he doesn’t want any money and is only concerned about the health of Dane, whose ex-wife, Rebecca Gayheart, shared in an essay for The Cut in December 2025 that the “Burlesque” star is currently receiving 24/7 care from nurses.
Mickey Rourke’s Call to Support Eric Dane
“God Almighty. Iam doing every thingg I can to go visit Eric I guess there’s [expletive] good reason that I can’t go. iam really freaking out I just want a few minutes with my friend I love very much,” he wrote. “I guess this is all for Eric’s Well being and I respect what ever it is all I can do is pray & say my rosary & pray to my saint Jude. Blessings to those who are with Eric at this moment.”
Rourke shared another post, saying he was “embarrassed” by the money that his fans raised for him when there is Dane’s health to focus on. He noted how his “attorney is doing everything in his power to make sure anyone who gave their hard-earned money” is quickly refunded.
He concluded his post by saying all he is “concerned with at this moment is the health and well-being” of Dane, before requesting his online supporters to send the actor “strong prayers.”
Eric Dane Receives 24/7 Care
GettyRourke isn’t the only concerned loved one of Dane who is taking a stand to protect his health. In Gayheart’s essay, she explained how after two appeals, she was finally granted home nursing care for her ex-husband. Now, the actor doesn’t spend a moment alone as he battles with ALS.
“There are times that shifts aren’t covered, so I cover them,” Gayheart shared of the 21 shift changes needed for Dane. “There was a 12-hour shift recently that I could not cover. I could only do four hours because of all the stuff that the kids are doing.”
Although Rourke is willing to step up for Dane, Gayheart noted that hasn’t been the case for some of the people who she would have liked to see support him. “There are a lot of people who used to be more present in my life who I think about and wonder, ‘Where’d they go?’” she questioned.
