Iconic ’80s actor Mickey Rourke officially loses his rental home, where he lived for over a decade.
On March 9, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge filed a judgment in favor of landlord Eric T. Goldie in an unlawful detainer case related to the actor’s home on Drexel Avenue in Los Angeles, according to PEOPLE.
The outlet revealed that the judgment was entered “by default,” which likely means Rourke did not respond to the complaint or appear in court within the required time.
The eviction comes after Rourke was served a notice to vacate the home after falling behind on his rent by nearly $60,000, PEOPLE reported.
Mickey Rourke Denies Knowledge of GoFundMe
In January, Rourke was spotted moving belongings out of his LA home. Around the same time, a GoFundMe campaign was launched, claiming to help support the actor.
However, the “Devil’s Play” star quickly denied any knowledge of the fundraiser, adding that he’s confused as to why someone created the drive on his behalf.
“That’s not me, okay?” Rourkee said in an Instagram video shared on January 6. “I’d rather, if I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no [expletive] charity.”
He also urged his supporters not to donate and pleaded to those who had already donated to get their money back.
Where Is Mickey Rourke Now?
Meanwhile, Rourke’s manager, Kimberly Hines, told The Hollywood Reporter that she and her assistant launched the GoFundMe to save the actor from the threat of homelessness.
Hines also confirmed at the time that the actor has been staying at a hotel with his three dogs. She added that they have prepared an apartment for Rourke in Koreatown.
Hines assured everyone that the GoFundMe money remains intact. She said that if Rourke doesn’t want it, they will “figure out how to send the money back” to his fans.
On the bright side, Hines revealed that Rourke got multiple movie offers following his housing crisis.
“People are emailing him movie offers now, which is great because nobody’s been calling him for a long time,” Hines told the outlet.
Meanwhile, fans have shown their support for the actor during this trying time.
One fan wrote, “I feel bad this difficult time he is dealing with being all out in the media has got to be hard to say the least.”
Another said, “People have this impression that celebrities are rich. Most of them aren’t. Medical bills, even with insurance depletes everyone financially.”
Someone chimed in, “Dude is about to be homeless at an advanced age, not good. “
