There’s no doubt that, nowadays, Lacey Chabert is a bona fide Hallmark star, having done over 40 movies for the channel. However, as impressive as that is, it’s far from all the actress has done.
Performing since she was a child and popping up in seemingly countless roles, you may have forgotten some of the many movies she can be seen in. That includes “Tart.”
‘Tart’ Featured a Teenage Lacey in 2001
On April 9, Dominique Swain, who starred in 2001’s “Tart” as teenager Catherine “Cat” Storm, took to Instagram to share a few photos from her time working on the project.
Along with a pair of still shots from her time filming the onscreen story, Swain also included a candid pic that showed some of the younger members of the cast hanging out. In two of the pics, fans can spot Chabert flashing the same smile she has today.
In the caption, Swain wrote, “Found this gem in the archives! 📸 Who remembers the Tart era? We were just kids running around NYC. Upper East Side. Which character was your favorite? #TBT #TartMovie #2000sNostalgia”
Fans were quick to fill the comments with memories and compliments, with one person writing, “My best friend and I probably watched this 50 times in high school.”
“One of my most favorite movies 🥰,” another fan added.
A third follower wrote, “Omg, I was OBSESSED with this movie! I can quote large sections of it still!”
“This reminds me I need to pull out my copy of Tart on DVD and give it another watch ❤️ Definitely an underrated movie 🔥,” came from another social media user.
Someone else left a comment, saying, “Tart & GIRL are on my list of comfort movies. I saw them for the first time as a pre-teen scanning TV channels in the early 2000’s and eventually got them on DVD. They still hold up solid today too! I throw them on a few times a year.”
For those who don’t know — or need a little refresher — “Tart” tells the story of “[a] student [who] will do anything to become part of the ‘in-crowd’ at the exclusive school she attends in New York,” according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Swain played the main character, while Chabert appeared as fellow teen, Eloise Logan. The movie also included Brad Renfro (who sadly passed away on January 15, 2008, at the age of 25) as William Sellers, Bijou Phillips as Delilah Milford and Mischa Barton as Grace Bailey, as well as Melanie Griffith as Diane Milford.
Lacey Has Enjoyed a Pretty Epic Career
If you find it hard to name your favorite Hallmark Channel movie that stars Chabert, that could be because she’s made so many. You might also have a little difficulty picking a favorite performance from the actress’s vast list of roles outside of Hallmark.
Beginning her career with a cough syrup commercial when she was still a child, per Morning Honey, Chabert was also a finalist on “Star Search” in 1991, according to IMDB.
It wasn’t long before she landed the role of the young Cosette in Broadway’s “Les Misérables” — alongside singer Debbie Gibson as Éponine — a job she kept for two years.
She also played Erica Kane’s daughter, Bianca Montgomery, on “All My Children” from 1992 to 1993.
Of course, many consider Chabert’s performance as the adorable Claudia Salinger on the show “Party of Five” (1994–2000) as her breakout role.
That led to work in “Lost in Space” (1998), “Not Another Teen Movie” (2001) and “Daddy Day Care” (2003), as well as her iconic role as Gretchen Wieners in “Mean Girls” (2004), which was obviously so fetch.
