‘Providence Falls’ Star Reveals Major Highlight of Filming Mini Series

Many Hallmark series and movies are filmed in Canada or quaint small towns in Connecticut, Georgia, or North Carolina. But in a couple of recent Christmas projects this season, another location has emerged.

If you ask Evan Roderick what stood out about filming “Providence Falls,” you’ll quickly notice a recurring thread. “To be on a plane to Dublin was such a cool experience for me, and I think for the rest of the cast as well,” the Hallmark star told the “Heart in Motion” podcast.

“Providence Falls” spans different time periods, including 1844 Ireland. While Vancouver, British Columbia, provides the set for Providence Falls, Oregon, they needed a different location to make the past look authentic. Therefore, Roderick, Katie Stevens, Lachlan Quarmby, and the rest of the cast headed to the beautiful Irish countryside to film. This was a definite highlight for Roderick.

“Shooting in this beautiful Luttrellstown Castle, where [David] Beckham and [Victoria] Posh [Beckham] got married, that was so cool,” Roderick said. “We went out in Ireland a couple times, that was pretty fun.”

“We were shooting up in this mine in Squamish,” he added. “So many different visual fields to kind of take in.”

Roderick Maps Out a Path for a ‘Providence Falls’ TV Continuation

“Providence Falls” was separated into three sections, each about 90 minutes long. Despite it being only three episodes, Roderick, who also starred in the series “Arrow” and “Spinning Out,” thought it felt like a longer series.

“It felt to me like the first five episodes of shooting a TV show,” Roderick said. “I mean, from front to back, I think it was three and a half months of shooting, or not shooting. But beginning to end, which is roughly that in a TV show.”

Subsequently, the “A Tale of Two Christmases” star would love to continue “Providence Falls” as a TV series. He could see the story picking up with Liam and Cora’s foundation, Second Chances, or with a focus on other characters.

“I think it would almost have to center around Amitai’s [Marmorstein] character,” Roderick said, referring to the actor who played Agon, an “Angel of Destiny.” “In my brain, that’s the only way it would make sense because they’re the only people in the afterlife.”

“It could be cool to introduce new characters through the ‘Angels of Destiny,” he added.
