Andrea Brooks is grieving the loss of a very special force in her life. The Hallmark star took to social media on March 23, 2026, to pay tribute to Valerie Perrine, an Oscar-nominated actress known for playing Miss Tessmacher in the first two “Superman” movies. It’s a role Brooks later played in the “Supergirl” series from 2016 to 2021, which bonded the two women for life.
Captioning a photo of her with Perrine, Brooks wrote, “We lost a great one today. 🕊️ I was so lucky to have had the chance to play Miss Tessmacher on Supergirl, and one of my favourite takeaways from that time was getting to meet and befriend the iconic Valerie Perrine, who I grew up watching in the Superman movies back when you could rent ’10 for 10′ VHS tapes from Blockbuster.”
Andrea Brooks Says Valerie Perrine ‘Never Stopped Fighting’ Amid Her Battle With Parkinson’s
The touching tribute from Brooks, who has played Dr. Faith Carter on “When Calls The Heart” since 2015, came hours after Perrine’s death was announced via her Instagram page by a dear friend, documentarian Stacey Souther, who said Perrine was 82.
Brooks wrote of the actress, “Her courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease was highlighted in @staceysouther’s documentary about her life and career, and as evidenced over the past decade and a half, she never stopped fighting.”
“It was such a delight getting to walk around in the shoes Valerie wore before me,” Brooks continued, “and I’ll always think back on our shared connection with great fondness. Rest in Peace dearest Valerie. 🤍”
Fans and friends commented on Brooks’ post, offering her their sympathy and mourning Perrine’s death, including one who wrote, “Sending you so, so much love today. 😞💜 I loved her in the Superman films”
“Awwwwwwww two miss T’s,” another commented. “Xxxooo RIP.”
Andrea Brooks Urged Fans to Support Valerie Perrine’s Last Wish
GettyBrooks also encouraged any fans of Perrine’s to support the GoFundMe that Souther set up in her honor, hoping to pay for the star’s last wish.
Souther wrote on the fundraising page, “Valerie’s final wish was simple and deeply meaningful: to be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills, in the city that shaped her destiny. It is a wish as dignified and deserving as the woman herself. And it is a wish we are asking you to help us honor.”
Once Perrine developed Parkinson’s and could no longer work, the money she’d made in Hollywood went to medical expenses, Souther wrote. The fundraising goal is $35,000, which Souther said “will go directly toward” burial and interment at Forest Lawn in Hollywood Hills, covering costs for a funeral and memorial service, and to cover final care and administrative costs.”
