According to the fundraiser, the donations will go toward burial and interment, memorial service arrangements, and final care expenses.
Souther noted that the effort has the full support of Perrine’s brother, Ken Perrine, and encouraged others to come together to help fulfill her wish.

Valerie Perrine, the Oscar-nominated actress known for her role in “Lenny” and her appearances in the “Superman” films, died on March 23, 2026, at her home in Beverly Hills.
Filmmaker Stacey Souther confirmed the news in a message shared on social media, writing: “It is with deep sadness that I share the heartbreaking news that Valerie has passed away. She faced Parkinson’s disease with incredible courage and compassion, never once complaining,”
He continued: “She was a true inspiration who lived life to the fullest — and what a magnificent life it was. The world feels less beautiful without her in it. I love you, Valerie. I’ll see you on the other side. ❤️”
According to Souther, Perrine began experiencing early symptoms around 2011, initially dealing with essential tremors that later developed into Parkinson’s disease.
The condition gradually affected her ability to continue acting and brought significant personal challenges.
Souther reflected on her strength, writing: “As roles dried up, so did the financial security that should have come with a lifetime of extraordinary work.”
He added, “Valerie spent what she had on medical care, determined to fight. She fought for fifteen years. She never complained. She kept smiling.”
Perrine is survived by her brother, Ken Perrine, who is also living with Parkinson’s disease.
