Savannah Guthrie has been away from her hosting gig on “Today” since her mom’s disappearance on February 1.
After spending weeks in Tucson, Arizona, amid the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s abduction, Savannah returned to New York to visit her colleagues on March 5.
Now, according to a new report from Page Six, Guthrie may be eyeing a return to work.
Savannah Guthrie Could Be Back to Work Sooner Than Expected
While the search for Nancy continues, Page Six reported on Sunday, March 22, that Savannah may be back to work in the coming week.
“While plans may change as her mother’s case develops, the host is hoping to return to the ‘Today’ show after her children’s spring break,” a source told Page Six.
The outlet added that many New York City schools have spring break in early April and are back in session by April 10.
According to the source, Savannah hopes to spend “as much time as possible” with her husband, Michael Feldman, and their children before going back to work. Savannah and Michael share two kids, daughter Vale, 11, and son Charley, 9.
In Guthrie’s absence, former “Today” co-host Hoda Kotb has been filling in. She has been showing her full support for her friend throughout the investigation.
“Bring her home,” Kotb shared via her Instagram Story on Sunday, March 22, referring to Savannah’s missing mother.
Savannah was seen embracing her colleagues during her visit to 30 Rock earlier this month.
“Savannah Guthrie stopped by the studio this morning to be with and thank her Today colleagues,” an NBC News spokesperson said in a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home.”
NBC Not Putting Pressure on Savannah Guthrie to Return
While her colleagues undoubtedly miss her presence, NBC is not putting pressure on Savannah to return to work.
According to Rob Shuter, “Behind the scenes, NBC is handling the situation with compassion and care.”
A source told Shuter for his Naughty but Nice Substack in February, “If [Nancy’s disappearance] has anything to do with Savannah’s fame, she may never come back” to NBC.
“No job is worth risking your family,” the insider added at the time. According to a network source, however, “There is absolutely no pressure on Savannah. None. She’s being told to take all the time she needs.”
