Savannah Guthrie’s beloved mother Nancy Guthrie has been mossing for 44 days, having been reported missing from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1, 2026. And since then, the Today Show anchor has taken a step back from the show to be with her family during this time.
However, it seems she might be planning to return.
According to Daily Mail, producers at NBC have begun discussing how her return to the show will go, which could include a “symbolic moment outside on the plaza.”
And with that, it also brings into question Hoda Kotb’s future as she has been stepping in for Guthrie during this family tragedy. The outlet further adds that NBC has “no plans to have Kotb share the spotlight,” as the “focus is on Savannah.”
Daily Mail further adds that there “has been talk of releasing yellow balloons from the square outside 1 Rockefeller Plaza as a gesture of support to honor Nancy and celebrate Savannah.”
‘They want the moment to feel hopeful,’ a network source told the outlet. ‘Something simple that viewers on the plaza and at home will instantly understand.’
Savannah Guthrie Visited The ‘Today’ Studio
At the beginning of March, Guthrie paid a visit to her studio to visit her “Today” colleagues in New York City amid the disappearance of her mother. The reunion was heartfelt and included many of her colleagues and co-hosts, including Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones.
“Savannah has come back to her home here at 30 Rock, studio 1A. We got to see her this morning and in her perfect way she talked to all of us, hugged every single person in this room,” Bush Hager said during the March 5 episode. “She said that, you know, she has every intention to return to the show. Even though it feels like the hardest thing to do, it’s also her home and where she feels so loved. And she is beyond loved here. We are happy that she is home. I don’t know when she’s actually returning to the show. But she was here, and that felt so good to get to hug her.”
I’m proud of Savannah and I’m rooting for Savannah. And I know the strength that it would take even just coming here and to be amongst all of us,” Jones added. “So I see it as, we’re in the storm. We’re not out of the storm, but there’s a light somewhere even in the midst of the storm.”
FBI Recovers New Images From Nancy Guthrie’s Cameras
In a new report from ABC News, a source said that the FBI retrieved “thumbnail” images captured by motion-activated cameras that were on the swimming pool, backyard, and side yard, but no video footage was identified.
However, the sources added that the “cameras recorded nothing suspicious.”
