HGTV star Ant Anstead shared his heartfelt reaction to girlfriend Renee Zellweger’s major career achievement: Her “Bridget Jones” statue.
Ant Anstead Reacts to Renee Zellweger’s Statue
Renee Zellweger was in London’s Leicester Square on Monday, November 17, as a statue in her likeness was unveiled in honor of the 20th anniversary of “Bridget Jones’s Diary.”
“I think she’s much cuter than me,” the 56-year-old actress joked of the statue to BBC News. She went on to say that she feels Bridget Jones has stood the test of time because of her “vulnerability” and her “humanness.”
“We recognize ourselves in her, we recognize ourselves in her struggles,” she told the outlet.
While it’s unclear if the “Wheelers Dealers” star was in attendance for the career milestone, he took to his own social media profile to praise his longtime love.
Getty“Iconic,” he wrote over a photo of Zellweger at the event, which he shared to his Instagram Story.
He previously gushed about Zellweger’s beloved role following the premiere of “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” in January.
“Midweek movie night with the kiddos…. The Movie was absolutely utterly brilliant and the lead actress was mesmerising and smoking HOT (I have a mega crush on her!),” he captioned an Instagram post at the time. “I’ve let the missus know she’s my hall pass….. X.”
Ant Anstead and Renee Zellweger Are Still Going Strong
The uber-private couple has been going strong since meeting on the set of his hit series “Celebrity IOU: Joyride” in 2021.
“I’m really grateful to the show because these amazing things happen in your world and sometimes when things collide, they collide at the most obscure times when you least expect them,” he coyly told People that September. “And that’s what happened in this case.”
He later added, “Renée and my relationship is something that’s really private. It’s something I’m not really willing to talk too much about. It’s really early in our relationship and I don’t want to put any pressure on that.”
For her part, the “Jerry Maguire” star revealed to pal Hugh Grant during a January 2025 interview with British Vogue that she had relocated to California to be closer to Anstead.
“I live in Southern California, near San Diego,” she told Grant. “Because that’s where my fellow lives, and his little boy,” she added, referring to Anstead’s 6-year-old son, Hudson, whom he shares with ex-wife HGTV star Christina Haack.
