Christina Haack and ex-husband Tarek El Moussa shared an emotional moment during season 1 of “The Flip Off.” The HGTV star shared how the scene came about after her split with Josh Hall.
Christina Haack Shared Details of Emotional Scene With Tarek El Moussa
In an October 2025 interview with People, Haack shared that her first husband, El Moussa, was critical in Hall’s exit from “The Flip Off.”
Haack and Hall teamed up against El Moussa and his wife Heather Rae on the home flipping competition show. Haack and Hall split while filming “The Flip Off,” however.
El Moussa had his ex-wife’s back in the situation and helped move the show forward without Hall.
“Tarek told our attorney and told the network for me that Josh would no longer be a part of the show,” Haack shared. “They said ‘No problem. That’s fine.’ They just said, ‘We need Christina to have a scene where she tells you, Tarek, that Josh is no longer going to be a part of the show.'”
The HGTV stars filmed the scene a week later. “[The producers] didn’t tell me anything. They just said, ‘Tarek’s coming over. We want you to tell him that you and Josh broke up,'” she shared.
Haack continued, “But for me, [the scene] was never really about Josh. It was more about me and Tarek and everything that’s happened since then.”
“I think that scene lasted probably an hour and a half in reality and everyone was crying: the camera operators, the production crew. It was emotional,” Haack recalled.
She added, “Through the years we have obviously had talks, and we’ve apologized to each other, but not on camera and not like that. I don’t think he expected me to go there.”
Christina Haack Reflects on 3 Failed Marriages
On September 28, Haack took to Instagram to reflect on her last decade and explain how she’s moving forward.
“I just wanted to thank you all for still being here,” she wrote in the caption. “This past decade for me has been a whirlwind and, at times, a total circus. In early 2024 I decided it was time to get off the roller coaster.”
The HGTV star continued, “Since then I’ve gone through many battles with myself and my ego. Biggest battle has been Embarrassment. Embarrassment over allowing myself to be treated certain ways and having 3 failed marriages — trust me that one hurts and still at times makes me cringe.”
She noted that she’s “had to forgive” herself and “trust that things happen for a reason.”
Haack shared, “I’ve had the wind knocked out of me so many times I’m shocked I’m still happy, motivated, and excited about life. But I am.”
She explained, “I’ll credit this to wanting to change, putting in the work to better understand myself, and only surrounding myself with people who are also happy, motivated and genuinely want me to succeed. That last one is SO important.”
