David Bromstad’s Client Gives Him a Hilarious Budget Reality Check on ‘My Lottery Dream Home’

Staying on budget during home buying and renovations is challenging — and “My Lottery Dream Home” host David Bromstad knows the struggle all too well. See one home buyer’s genius way to keep the HGTV star from going over budget.

David Bromstad Client Finds Perfect Way to Keep Host on Budget

In a clip posted on the HGTV Instagram account on March 27, Bromstad has a budget conversation with his clients on “My Lottery Dream Home.”

“No pressure, David!” the caption noted. “Watch these lottery winners search for their first home in Rocky Mount, NC on tonight’s #MyLotteryDreamHome ‘Scratch Offs’ ep at 9|8c!”

Text at the beginning of the video reads: “Someone finally found a way to keep David on budget.”

While discussing money with the lottery winners, Bromstad looks for clarity. The home buyers note that their budget is between $250,000 and $300,000.

“Okay. Can I go over?” Bromstad asks.

The home buyer responds, “If you go over three, I’m going to have to cut a child out of education — and I don’t want to do that.”

Bromstad laughs, saying that response is “the best way to keep me on budget.”

Fans lit up the comments section, with many having a laugh over the home buyers’ guidelines.

“That was the best come back from the person looking for a house and David is always ready with the snark answer,” one fan wrote.

Others noted, “The honesty 😂” and “That was a great response to David.”

One fan cheered Bromstad on, writing, “You’ll find a way @bromco🩷 You always do.”

Others shared their love for the host, with comments including, “David is so adorable and real 😍” and “I absolutely love love love this man ❤️.”

Bromstad Shares the ‘Hardest Part’ of ‘My Lottery Dream Home’

In a March 6 HGTV Instagram post, the network included a video of Bromstad talking with Tucker, the executive producer of “My Lottery Dream Home.”

Tucker shared gratitude for working with Bromstad. “All of these guys have been here practically since season 1,” he said, pointing around the room. “And to think that we’ve invited our lottery winners to come work on the show — it’s like, it’s a great experience for all of us.”

He added, “It’s just been a great run. And it’s thanks to all of our viewers at home for keeping us employed. It’s thanks to the family that we work with that we get to do this every day. It would suck if we didn’t like the people.”

Bromstad responded, “I spend more time with these human beings than I do with my own friends or family. So they become such an extension. There’s such a respect and admiration that I have for all of these human beings here.”

He added, “Putting their lives … not on hold, but … on an airplane, all the time away from their family and friends.”

Tucker noted, “You’re a dream to work with. I’m excited that we got to show a little bit behind the curtain for all the viewers at home who are the reason why we all have jobs.”

Bromstad shared that there is one challenge with the dream job, however. “You know, I do love this job,” he said. “It is hard. And the travel is the hardest part. The connection with the people is what makes it worth it.”
