HGTV Star Safe But Shaken After Massive Explosions Rock Downtown Toronto: ‘Couldn’t Get My Bearings’

During a break from filming a new season of “Love It or List It,” longtime HGTV star Page Turner was shaken — physically and emotionally — by giant explosions that rocked downtown Toronto on March 27, 2026.

Turner has since updated fans to let them know she is safe, but the experience was clearly terrifying as it unfolded. Local news station CP24 reported that, incredibly, no one was injured in the explosions or fire that broke out. Authorities told the outlet that an investigation is underway into what happened.

Page Turner Says Nearby Explosions ‘Did Shake the Building’ She’s Staying at in Toronto

From the 35th-story apartment where she’s staying, Turner posted several videos to her Instagram Stories after being jolted away by a loud explosion that rocked her building. As she filmed through her apartment window, she gasped as another explosion erupted into a huge fire on the top of a nearby building, clearly terrified as she said repeatedly, “The blood of Jesus! The blood of Jesus!”

Over one video of huge plumes of smoke rising above the buildings downtown, Turner wrote, “The first explosion woke me out of a deeeep sleep – had to call on Him! I was JUST on that corner walking an hour ago … Praying for the people around the building. 😭”

The experience clearly shook the interior designer, so much so that Turner later said she didn’t think to update fans and let them know she was safe. Only after receiving many messages from people concerned for her safety did she post an explanation in her Stories.

“Thank you, familia, for calling me and texting me,” she said in her selfie video. “I guess I posted there was an explosion four or five blocks away from my apartment here in Toronto, but I didn’t post that I’m okay. Sorry about that.”

“It did shake the building,” she continued. “I was in a deep, deep sleep. I’m still really sleepy because I’ve been working for ‘Love It or List It.’ But, anyways, I was knocked out. So the first explosion, I was like, ‘Oh! What’s that? I couldn’t get my bearings, so you hear me going very church. Okay, now y’all know I’m saved because that’s the first person I called on.”

Toronto Authorities Say Propane Cylinders Exploded on Building’s Roof

Marveling at how “crazy” the “black smoke” was in the sky, Turner pointed from her balcony at all the fire trucks that remained on the streets below and said, “I was just on that street. There’s a Michael’s right there, and there’s a Marshalls.”

Photos published by the Toronto Star showed the exact spot where Turner had been shopping shortly before the explosions, which occurred on top of a six-story building “in a densely populated area close to the city’s financial district,” according to Reuters.

A spokesperson with Toronto Fire ‌Services told the outlet that a fire on the roof, where construction work was underway, caused three propane cylinders to rupture and explode.

Turner has been in Toronto filming her second season of “Love It or List It” with co-star David Visentin. She replaced his original co-star, Hilary Farr, when she retired in late 2024.
