HGTV fans are flooding “Home Town: Inn This Together” couple Ben and Erin Napier with support after the beloved Heirloom Hotel burned down.
The season finale addressed the loss of the Laurel, Mississippi, landmark, owned by the Napier’s best friends. As the hotel works to rebuild, Erin is pleading with the insurance company to do “the right thing.”
Erin Napier’s Plea
Erin took to social media on Sunday, May 31, to share a handwritten letter from an 11-year-old to the hotel’s insurance company.
“My dear friend, Mr. Amos Sledge, age 11, hopes @libertymutual hears his plea and does the right thing. So do I,” she captioned her post.
In his letter, Amos wrote, “I am writing on behalf of my friends who own The Heirloom Hotel in Laurel, Mississippi. You may have seen this hotel on the HGTV show, ‘Home Town.'”
He continued, “This show has not only affected the small town of Laurel, but has changed the lives of many across the nation. What you may not know is that this gorgeous hotel burned to the ground late last year. Liberty Mutual is their insurance company.”
“Our country has been in a hard time lately. This hotel and this show have shown truth and beauty, and what hardwork and true friendship can do. As of right now, your company has not approved [their] claim to have the money to rebuild. It is heartbreaking to watch the show and see how hard they worked. They put it all on the line. I am writing to ask respectfully that you please approve their claim. This is your chance to prove Liberty Mutual is different,” he pleaded.
“This is not about any little town, but a town that is a beacon of light for our nation. If you do the right thing, it will keep the light shining,” Amos added.
Fans Show Support
Napier’s loyal fans were willing to join in to help support Laurel and the Heirloom Hotel, with many tagging Liberty Mutual in the comments.
“I wish there was something we all could do to put pressure on Liberty Mutual. That is criminal that they are taking so long. Is there some kind of campaign we could start,” one follower wrote.
Another added, “I cried tonight when I saw you and Mallory watching and Josh’s life story.liberty mutual must do the right thing..my gosh please answer Amos❤️🙌”
“Oh my goodness, I bawled at the end of the show tonight. What you all are doing for your hometown is so inspiring & the legacy you are leaving to your children is so beautiful. Praying for your ‘framily,'” a third commented.
A fourth follower noted Amos’ bravery, writing, “Wow, how awesome is this young man to be a beacon of light himself. To realize at his age what is good and what is the right thing to do.”
The Heirloom Hotel announced they are raising money to rebuild by selling salvaged floorboards that have been repurposed as photo ledges.
“It makes us feel encouraged as we look at these, that no matter how damaged—beautiful things can still come from the ashes,” they shared.
