Heather Rae El Moussa is getting super candid about her romantic life with husband Tarek.
The HGTV designer got a little spicy when she sat down with “Dancing With the Stars‘” Peta Murgatroyd as the very first guest for her new podcast, “The Penthouse With Peta.”
Heather and Peta talked about babies, stepkids and parenting before talked turned to something even more personal.
“Let’s get into married life,” Peta said to Heather with a smile. “It’s a battle to find time for each other, it really is, and to not make it all about the kids all the time… how do you keep it spicy with Tarek?”
“We’re very like, active in that department,” Heather replied giggling. “He is a lucky man. He’ll try to say otherwise, but I tell him I talk to my friends about it and they’re like ‘oh my God, you do?”
“So yeah, he’s lucky,” Heather continued, “And I feel like when we go away, my inhibitions are down and I feel like I can just kind of like have fun without worrying about other humans.”
‘Staycations Are So Good’ For Romance Says Heather
Heather Rae El Moussa says she loves taking a ‘staycation’ at a local hotel to spice up her relationship with Tarek.
“Just leaving for a night and going and having some drinks, then going to the room, and sleeping in a little.. not having anything to wake up and take care of,” Heather enthuses as a recipe for romance.
But it can’t all be about that either.
“I think there’s like ups and downs and I think it’s like navigating through those challenges, and that’s just normal right?” Heather said. “Also like when to not be too needy and ‘go work, go do your thing, go hustle,’ but then wanting, like craving that quality time together.”
“We’re both needy,” Heather admitted.
Heather Admits She Was Unwilling to Leave Tristan For Two Years
Heather Rae El Moussa admits that having her son Tristan, who is two-and-a-half, has changed things between her and Tarek.
“I think he misses the more free Heather where it was like traveling and drinks and just spontaneous. And now I’m more regimented. I want to be there with the baby, I want to put him down. I want to be there when he wakes up,” she explained. “If I’m gone, I’m gone for work.”
In fact, “The Flip Off” designer says for a long time, she didn’t want to go anywhere that would separate her from her son.
“I’d say when Tristan turned two is when I was like, you know what, he’s ok. I can go to dinner and meet my husband. I can go on that trip. But it took a long time for me. And my friends even said they were going to have an intervention because I never wanted to leave the baby,” she admitted.
