David Bromstad is single and more than ready to mingle. The star of HGTV’s hit show “My Lottery Dream Home” is eager to get married, he assured viewers in a hilarious segment during the season 18 episode that aired on August 22, 2025.
After HGTV premiered the episode, titled “The Second Time Around,” Bromstad, 52, and the network posted the funny clip on social media. As he spoke to a North Carolina real estate expert in the featured segment, Bromstad asked if there were “a lot of gay people” in the area, and she responded, “They like South End.”
“There we go, I’m moving to South End,” Bromstad quipped. “I need a husband to play with.” It’s what happened next that left even the film crew in stitches.
Realtor’s Response Resulted in Hysterical Exchange With David Bromstad: ‘Who’s Gary?’
When Bromstad said in the clip that he needed a husband, the Realtor looked confused and said, “I thought you had one.”
“No, I’ve been single for like 10 years,” Bromstad replied, and she then asked, “Well, who’s Gary?”
Dumbfounded, Bromstad peered over his glasses at her and demanded, “Who’s Gary!?”
She and the crew in the background started laughing. Flustered for a moment, Bromstad looked around and then straight at the camera and yelled, “Gary! If you’re out there, call me!”
Bromstad didn’t caption his post, but HGTV amusingly wrote on its feed, “Ball’s in your court, Gary”
It’s not clear where the Realtor got the idea Bromstad had a husband named Gary, but the designer hasn’t been in a serious relationship since 2015, when he and longtime beau Jeffrey Glasko broke up, according to InTouch Weekly.
Bromstad and Glasko were together from 2004 through 2015, the outlet reported. But after their split, Glasko filed two shocking civil lawsuits against Bromstad, per InTouch Weekly, claiming he’d breached a “nuptial-like cohabitation contract” they’d agreed to verbally, including sharing a Florida condo. A judge in Miami-Dade County eventually threw out the lawsuits, the outlet reported.
Bromstad’s lawyer, William V. Roppolo, told InTouch Weekly at the time, “These salacious claims were made by a desperate person. The allegations are part of a lawsuit that has been dismissed in Mr. Bromstad’s favor with sanctions levied against (Glasko).”

This was not the first time Bromstad has mentioned wanting to find a husband. In a January clip posted by HGTV, the host-with-the-most said, “I need a husband. Actually, I don’t need a husband, I simply just want one. Someone who has a private jet would be ideal.”
