Jenn Todryk is getting real with fans about the future of her HGTV show “No Demo Reno,” but that reality may not be exactly what they hoped to hear.
Jenn dropped a bombshell that while she loved all three seasons of the show, it’s not where her passion lies.
In a new “You, Me & Mike” podcast that dropped September 4, she and her husband Mike Todryk took on the issue of the future of her HGTV show head-on.
In episode one of season two of the podcast, Jenn admitted that it’s her work on her Rambling Redhead Instagram account that is “not only a full-time job for me but that’s what brings me joy.”
“I started that as a stay-at-home mom,” she said on the podcast. “And that has always brought me and joy and I really love doing it every day… that’s what I enjoy doing full-time, so I still juggled that while filming the TV show.”
Jenn Todryk Says ‘No Demo Reno’ Made Her ‘Not the Best Mom’
In the podcast, Mike asked Jenn Todryk, “Distill it down to the main reason. What were you losing [filming No Demo Reno”]?”
“My kids,” Jenn answered immediately. “The main reason for not filming is I want to be home.”
Jenn explained that while she set up a filming schedule that let her finish filming by 4:30pm each day, it still didn’t work.
“So the kids only had like 45 minutes of being at home without me after school, but it’s a strain,” she admitted. “It was us still showing up to pick them up every day and take them to school and pick them up and be the first and last face they see in and out the door. And that’s something I’ve always been protective of and I want.”
But Jenn didn’t feel engaged. Jenn began to tear up as she admitted, “I was noticing that I would get close to that 4:30 and I’d be like ‘Oh my gosh, we have softball. We have choir,’ and it was almost like a negative. Which I hated. You know I love, like, seeing our kids succeed and stuff. So I felt like… while I would fake it till I make it and I was still energetic and I’m still good, like, they weren’t getting the best mom.”
Jenn Todryk Asks Herself Why She’s Holding on to ‘No Demo Reno’
In the podcast, Jenn Todryk admitted that the dilemma left her torn.
“I have a choice,” she said. “I have the privilege of having other jobs that can provide. So why am I holding on to this specific one? If I have other jobs and other ways to make income, the tv show is just to be about me-me-me.”
“I did tv secondary to Instagram and everything else that had already been built.”
Jenn Ponders Whether HGTV Is the Right Platform for Her Show
HGTV aired three seasons of “No Demo Reno,” but the last new episode aired in December 2023.
When Jenn Todryk pressed the pause button, she admits she thought that pause would last about a year.
“I was thinking I’d take like a year, and here we are two years paused and I’m still good staying paused,” she said.
Then she dropped another bombshell. “I definitely do feel like if I’m gonna create any kind of series, I would want to do it on YouTube, like my YouTube, so then I could retain total control. But then that’s just asking for, essentially I’m a production company which terrifies me,” she confessed.
“I have a large platform that gets a large amount of views, so I don’t know why I wouldn’t just do it on my own platforms and then those who want to watch it, great,” she said.
