HGTV’s Jenny Marrs Gushes Over ‘Beautiful’ Moment She Said ‘Yes’ to ‘Fixer to Fabulous’

HGTV’s Jenny and Dave Marrs have become fan favorites on the home renovation network through their beloved series “Fixer to Fabulous.” The Arkansas designer gushed to fans about the moment they said “Yes” to filming the pilot.

Jenny Marrs Recalls the Moment They Decided to Film ‘Fixer to Fabulous’

Marrs previously revealed that she and Dave turned down HGTV multiple times before finally agreeing to give television a try.

During the family’s temporary move to South Africa in 2017, however, they decided to give television a try.

“The time away together was marked by beautiful words like ‘intentionality,’ ‘laughter,’ ‘calm,’ ‘contentment,’ and ‘joy,'” Marrs shared via her Substack blog on Friday, January 23.

“It was also during that time away that we said yes to filming a pilot for a television show,” she explained. “Once again, not fully knowing what this ‘yes’ held but wholly trusting that the one who had told us to be strong and courageous would continue to be with us as we walked out our faith more publicly.”

Marrs continued, “Looking back on all that God did during our time away, I can see why the enemy tried to cause fear and confusion beforehand. And, I can see why God, ever faithful, led me to the book of Joshua just before we left. He knows my anxious thoughts just as He knew Joshua’s. And, instead of giving up on me and finding someone else for the task, He reminded me of Who He is.”

While the move was temporary, it made a lasting impact on the Marrs family as they are currently in their seventh season of their HGTV series.

Jenny and Dave Marrs Turned Down HGTV ‘Multiple Times’

Before becoming HGTV staples, Jenny and Dave ran a successful business in their home state of Arkansas and were hesitant to expand beyond.

“But we said no at the time because we really just we just were busy with our business, with our kids,” Jenny said during an interview with Extra TV in November 2025.

Dave added, “We’d just come through a pretty tough season of adoption, and we were just kind of coming out of the weeds where life was getting back to normal.”

They went on to explain that they were concerned about bringing film crews into their “little town” in Arkansas, worried about how it would be portrayed to fans.

“We just we had a good business. We didn’t really have a desire to grow a lot more, [or to] be on television. So we yeah, we just said no originally,” he continued.

Despite believing that it would just be “a pilot [and] maybe a few more episodes,” the Marrs family shows no signs of slowing down.
