Kim Wolfe is loving her reunion with fellow “Survivor: alum Chelsea Meissner on HGTV’s “Rock the Block” fifteen years after they first met on the beach in Samoa.
From the jump, the two were excited to spend more time together, and told host Ty Pennington as much on the season premiere.
“I’m excited to be on the block,” said Wolfe, who won their season and has gone on to have a successful design career in Texas. “This is a dream. And I’m excited to do it with one of my best friends.”
“If I can survive 39 days on a desolate island, I can definitely survive ‘Rock the Block,” declared Meissner confidently before adding a slight caveat. “I may have to eat my words on that, but we’re tough.”
Fortunately, their friendship appears to have survived its latest test renovating a home in Las Vegas, no leaves and branches required.
Their Bond Remains Strong
The sentiment the women shared at the beginning of the show Wolfe told TVInsider that the reunion is a “dream.”
“We’ve stayed such close friends, and yet, we’ve never lived in the same place again. We talk on the phone. We get to see each other a few times a year. So, to spend six weeks together in Las Vegas and get to spend time with her baby… we had the best time,” she said the reality show champion. “And we promised ourselves going into ‘Rock the Block’ that we were just going to have so much fun, and we really did. There was not a day where we were not enjoying being there together, doing it. So I feel really blessed to have gotten to do it.”
“Survivor” Has Inspired Her Designs
Wolfe has brought inspiration from her extended time in nature to her design work, particularly working with color and materials reminiscent of the outdoors.
“I’ve always loved being outdoors. And I think spending that amount of time with no distraction, no phones, just really kind of bored and lying around and gazing up at a blue sky and palm leaves and sand, there was this deeper appreciation that came from being in nature,” the former host of “Why the Heck Did I Buy This House?” told TVInsider. “And so, I do feel like I am always looking for ways to kind of bring the essence of that feeling into houses and into spaces through design.”
Her affinity for the outdoors is evident in the duo’s previous collaborations together, including Meissner’s Charleston home, featuring plenty of green life, bold colors, botanical wallpaper, and coastal touches like surfboards throughout the home.
The “Southern Charm” star is a dream collaborator for Wolfe, who shared, “When I work with Chelsea, I do my best work” on the show.
The Duo Has Some Stiff Competition
HGTV“Survivor: One World” was tough, but that doesn’t mean the duo are a shoe-in.
They’re up against Scott McGillivray of “Renovation Resort Showdown” paired with reality star turned Nashville interior designer Brooke Hogan, 98 Degrees singer and “Dancing With the Stars” champ Drew Lachey paired with “Battle on the Beach” star Taniya Nayak,” and “Good Bones” star Mina Starsiak Hawk paired with Super Bowl champ Vernon Davis.
It’s a competitive group with plenty of design chops, but Wolfe and Meissner’s grit and long-standing alliance might just give them the edge to take home the prize.
