Mike Holmes Shares Story of ‘Special’ Renovation
On December 28, Holmes took to Instagram to shout out a special member of the crew who joined them for an episode.
“Meet Michael, our honorary crew member,” Holmes wrote in the caption. “Michael has autism, and caring for him didn’t leave much time for this parents to upgrade their bungalow.”
The HGTV star continued, “When I met Michael, I was surprised to see how much he LOVED our Holmes shows. He was quoting me 😂 and knew all of our episodes. He was learning from what I do. HIs parents told me Mike Holmes comes up in conversations everyday in their house.”
Holmes noted, “When I first went to his house, I didn’t tell him I was coming. His reaction was so cute.”
“Of course we had to invite him to join our crew for the project,” Holmes added. “Watching him shine in construction, renovating his own house with me was really special. He took pride in what he was doing — loved seeing that. This is one of those times a renovation is more than just a renovation.”
When the episode aired in October 2025, Holmes shared on Instagram: “It’s a heartwarming moment when we surprise superfan Michael with a renovation! We totally upgrade the family’s dated bungalow with a new modern kitchen and create a space for large family gatherings.”
