‘Swamp People’ Star Ashley Jones Celebrates Huge Milestone in Sobriety Journey

Ashley Jones if famous for the History Channel‘s hit program “Swamp People.” Nicknamed “Deadeye,” the hunter often took to the Louisiana swamps in search of alligators. Onscreen she was fighting gators, but offscreen she was facing a tougher battle with alcohol.

But the star has since kicked her bad habit and is celebrating a big milestone in her sobriety journey.


Ashley Jones Feels Better as She Marks 3 Years of Sobriety

Like many cast members of “Swamp People,” Jones has become quite the celebrity. As with many celebrities, Jones isn’t afraid to share aspects of her life.

The alligator hunter has been open about her sobriety journey, which began in 2023. Quitting alcohol is a tough battle, but Jones has putting in the hard work and is loving the new her.

On May 15th, she posted an Instagram photo showing off before and after pics after giving up liquor. “Today marks 3 years and 2 months sober! Thank you Jesus and please continue to keep me from drinking! I have never felt better nor looked better for that matter.”

Jones’ inspirational transformation and sobriety journey touched the hearts of her followers.

“Great job. That is a huge accomplishment,” wrote one fan.

“Absolutely awesome!! ❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍,” one commenter replied.

“Congrats! You look amazing and I know you feel better 💪,” one user wrote.

“Looking good. Keep up the good work,” another follower commented.

Is Ashley Jones Still on ‘Swamp People’?

Jones was a member of “Swamp People” from 2019 to 2024. Viewers watched as she and her partner Ronnie Adams traveled the Louisiana swamps for gators.

Aside from hunting alligators, Jones also hunted for pythons in the Florida Everglades for the History Channel series “Serpent Invasion.”

Jones became a popular cast member of “Swamp People,” but after six seasons she decided it was time to move on. In January 2025, before the show’s Season 16 premiere, she announced her departure on Instagram.

“Well, y’all, I’m retiring from Swamp People (or for sure taking a break)! I know many of you will be sad to hear this and I can only pray for your continued support.”

Jone went on to explain that spending more time with her family was a main reason for her departure. “I’ve gotten to a time in my life where missing the first month of school with my kids really affects their entire school year. They are also older and involved in a lot that I will not miss for any amount of money.”

The mom of three went on to say that she’d found a new job helping her husband run his law firm. Although Jones was looking forward to her new life, she admitted she’d miss her friends and crew from “Swamp People.”

She also assured fans they haven’t seen the last of her. “Hopefully, I can come back for guest appearances, and I’ll always do meet and greets to give me the opportunity to meet those who have supported me.”

Fans have continued supporting Jones by following her adventures on social media. From hunting to family time to hitting the gym, they’re happy to see her happy and healthy.
