Rose McGowan Shares Tribute to Hayden Panettiere

McGowan, who played Tatum in the 1996 film “Scream,” is a horror icon like Panettiere, who appeared in “Scream 4” and “Scream 6.” On Instagram, McGowan posted a video of the ocean. In the text overlay, she wrote, “Rest in Power Hayden Paniettiere [sic]. Don’t put kids in show business. None of this is normal. May her spirit be free of those who orchestrated.”

Fans reacted to the post, sharing their thoughts in the comment section. “Kids don’t belong to show business.. too many sad stories, well said…,” a comment reads. “Exactly this. So much to love her. Amazing soul,” another person shared.

Other reactions include, “May she found the peace. We will never forget her strength, voice and dedication. She left join so much people we’ve love and we miss so much,” and “thank you @rosemcgowan for your wisdom and speaking truth.”

Hayden Panettiere Discusses Impact of Childhood Fame

Panettiere got her first big break on the soap opera, “One Life to Live,” when she was four, and appeared on “Guiding Light” from 1996 to 2000. The late actress is also known for her roles in “Nashville,” “Heroes,” “Bring It On,” and “Scream 6.”

Panettiere has been vocal about the struggles she faced after achieving fame at such a young age. “It’s not healthy to receive so much praise as a child,” Panettiere told The Independent in May. “When I got to an age where I became somebody the paparazzi were interested in, and the media wanted all the gory details… it broke my heart that people thought negatively about me.”

Her mother, Lesley Vogel, got her involved in the industry from a young age. In Panettiere’s interview, she discussed how she began to confuse her mother’s praise with affection. “Her opinions were the most important to me,” she said. “I associated praise with love. So being praised felt like being loved.”

To promote her memoir, “This Is Me,” released in May, Panettiere shared why it mattered. “This was the first project where there was nobody there to direct me or give me real guidance; I just had to have a lot of trust in myself,”  she told Entertainment Weekly.

Hayden Panettiere’s Tragic Passing

Panettiere’s autopsy has been completed and her remains transferred to a funeral home, but the Greenville County Coroner’s Office has not given an official cause of death while they wait for the results of the toxicology test.

“The cause and manner of death remain pending further investigation and the completion of additional studies. This investigation remains active and ongoing,” the coroner’s statement read, Entertainment Weekly reports. “No further details are available for release at this time.
